TARA VOM CASTELL
1988 OSB Trakehner Mare
(Avignon II x The Princess Condé by Ricardo)
Gorgeous dark bay and standing 15.3 hh, TARA VOM CASTELL is Tannenwald's foundation mare. She is by many accounts (including her own!) our best mare.
Bred by the Barton family of Castell Imperator Hof, Tara started her life with a show career, on the line, helping her sire to earn several "Get of Sire" Championships. Tara has excellent bloodlines with a relatively high percentage of Thoroughbred blood (through her sire's dam Arcticonius xx, her dam's sire Ricardo, and her dam's dam's sire, Prince Condé).
She has produced several exceptional foals, including Tannenwald's own mares Tariana by Graditz *E* and Tarika by Kaspareit. Tara delivered a full brother to Tarika on August 19, 2001, Tarythmic.
On June 4, 2006 Tara delivered her latest masterpiece, Tarantino, an exceptional black colt by the Pan-Am Gold Medallist and Olympic Bronze Medallist Windfall *Pg*. This colt is too good to even think about not repeating the cross, and Tara will be bred back to Windfall for 2007. Congratulations to Heidi Lightle on her purchase of "Quentin"!
