I can't find much information on the web about him. Does anyone know what he's producing? Results, gradings, etc? The stud he stands at doesn't seem to have a website, can anyone point me in the direction of his scores etc please?
TIA
Linda

Charly Chaplin, born 1985, by EH Mackensen out of Chiusa by Neuqeen xx-Insterfeuer. Charly Chaplin was a competition horse for the most parts of his career and has an amazing record of PSG, Inter I+II and Grand Prix dressage wins and placings in Germany. His semen was always kind of troublesome (been there myself), which is one reason that the number of his offspring is rather low in count. But they sure stand out for dressage abilities. Charly has 2 approved sons, Pyatt Charly, who was approved in NMS in 1999 and sold at auction to Sherry Tourino of CA (she is on this board too), and had a great dressage career until his very sad and untimely death a few years ago. The other one is the bay Polarzauber G, a very successful young dressage horse in Germany. Several of Charly's daughters were awarded premium titles and he has an outstanding record at the elite auctions, both for foals as well as for riding horses.
You will most likely end up with a lot of chrome, and if not in the F1 generation, then further down the line. Insterfeuer brought that look into the bunch and it comes out a lot. Very attractive in my eyes. Charly needs mares with correct enough foundations, he is a bit on the light side and also tends to produce rotations, but up to now, that didn't prevent him nor his get to excel in performance. Expect a lot of ridability and work ethic from him, he is one of the most underrated sires in the breed today and I wish his semen was better so that more breeders would be willing to work with it.

Thanks for the information Maren
I do like him, but sounds like he wouldn't be the choice for my older mare.
I'm in the UK Christina and would have been looking at fresh/chilled semen depending on the stallion.

I can't imagine that anyone would want frozen semen from a Charly Chaplin son if they were in Europe. But I have 4 colts, 2 geldings, and 3 Pyatt Charly daughters. Whatever Petra did, she certainly did right. Pyatt Charly is the most prepotent stallion I have ever seen. All his get are alike (not in color, but in movement and temperament.) We've bred this year on frozen semen with immediate results.
