Who all is going to convention this year?
Someone said there would be 40 horses there, and what has to be a record, 17 colts to be presented. Would like to see that, but we can't seem to find a way to escape the farm for that long right now.
Personally, I am kind of bummed that there is no mare show, and no auction. Those were things we really liked going down to see.
Everyone lucky enough to be going, please do report to the rest of us, so that we may "convene" vicariously!

I believe there's going to be something more along the lines of 12 - 14 stallion prospects with another 5 to be presented in California. With mares and voluntary evaluations the St. Louis total does top out around 40. That is still quite a few horses, seems like one of the larger groups we've had in recent years. I'm looking forward to having so many horses to look at.
Sorry you won't be able to make it.

I'll be there! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who will be attending! We will be there until Monday afternoon... does anyone know of any Trakehner farms around the area? I would love to visit some/any on Sunday or Monday!

Hi Heather,
Look forward to seeing you at there. Pennant Farm is near the convention and last year LouAnn and Mel were nice enough to have us there to see Pennant. You should try to come up to the Chicago while you are in the Area. There are allot of Trak stallions to see here and it's only about 5 hours away from St. Louis.

Trakehners rule

I went last year and would not miss it for the world this year. Being new to Trakehner breeding, the meeting offers tons of experience all in one location. Nothing like spending a whole 3-4 days talking, watching, sharing and learning about horses.

WHO is going to be the designated videographer? We want FOOTAGE, especially of the stallion approvals and the Hilda Gurney clinic! Heather, Glory, Terri, everyone else--you guys have to figure out who can run a camcorder!

I'll record what I can, but I'm helping Eberhard groom the 5 colts he is presenting for inspection so I don't know what kind of time I am going to have. Maybe we can take turns.

OK, Glory...you guys do good!
That brings up another point--what colts are being presented? I only know one and I think Eberhard is showing him....

There is a one by Pregelstrand, two by Pennant, one by Enrico Caruso, and the Graditz colt that was asked back from last year.

Quick congrats to Glory - I hadn't realized Merlin had won top of the country until the awards banquet. Overall the meeting was rather a let down for me- no auction, no mare show and no real stallion parade or exhibition. There were a couple of clinics but I still preferred the overfull schedule of last year to this year. Granted I've been ill and am rather flat myself but the meeting seemed to lack enthusiasm and excitement. I know it takes a lot of volunteers to keep this thing running and they were in very short supply this year. Is it my imagination or did there seem to be a VERY light attendance this year?
I'm wondering what is in store for next year and what would make the meeting a great experience for me. I've been talking about it with the friend who drove down with me and would love to hear other people's thoughts about it.
