We bred our Turnus mare to Cadeau, our Tanzmeister mare was bred to Sixtus but that didn't work, she planned to take a year off

I LOVE Trakehners!

For this season one of my mares (Polarschnee- Ith- My Lunaria xx) is empty and I will probably lease her out to a friend, if not then I will look at Cornus for her. My other mare (also Polarschnee- Ith- My Lunaria xx) is in foal to a TB for a repeat of this years foal (except I want a filly as mums replacement this time round). Then hopefully I can get her back in foal using Frozen Semen to Feuertaenzer, if it is available.

Cate,
from your Polarschnee lines I guess you're in New Zealand?
I absolutely second the Cornus-pick, great stallion and has done extremely well with Arabian and TB lines! Good luck!

Hello Cate, Seems like you have nice horsies! The obvious question: What are your breeding objectives?

I LOVE Trakehners!

First and formost to produce horses with high rideability, and good temperaments, who are athletic enough to be able to dressage or jump or both. Secondly to get replacement stock, my oldest and favourite broodmare had a history before she came to me of aborting, so she was served using live cover, she is a full sister of the only live trakehner stallion that we have here at the moment, so I elected to use a TB, last year she produced a colt, this year to the same stallion I hope she will produce a filly. The second broodmare is a full sister to the first, She had a filly last year and I am happy to lease her out to a friend this year. Thirdly to use new bloodlines if possible. We have only had 3 stallions imported, Polarschnee (who produced a lot of Jumpers), Falkensee (who has produced a lot of Dressage horses), and Amarduc, consequently pretty much everything is by either Polarschnee or Falkensee as Amarduc had fertility problems and was gelded leaving only 7 or 8 foals... and only 2 fillies. There were only 2 mares imported that have bred Trraks.... Liebchen V, and Ajana. Liebchen is the dam of our only approved stallion (and my 2 mares), and Ajana had only a handful of foals who were pretty much scattered throughout the country and lost to Trak breeding. Everything else has been bred up from mostly TBs, and the occasional Anglo Arab. So the majority of horses we currently have are either first or second crosses, which leaves the country with a limited genetic base. Induc (Amarduc's sire) was made available late in the breeding season last year, and now Cornus is available this breeding season, both through frozen semen. But it will be some years, and several different stallions before we can start to breed amongst horses here. And finally from a personal viewpoint I like the Arabian influence in the Trakehner, so I like to see that preserved when I consider which stallions I would like to use. Make some sort of sense??
