Drought in Germany
« on: August 08, 2003, 01:50:12 PM »

To all of our friends in Germany and any other part of Europe in the drought,  our hearts and prayers are with you.  Erhard said this is the worst drought in 100 years.  Floods last year and drought this year.  Our best wishes for you, your wonderful horses, and your crops.

Thanks, Eileen.
I could really use a break of this.....

Kim will never believe this, when she came over in July, she hit the only rainy colder weekend in the past 3 months.... Wink

Have you had much rain yet, Maren??

I know near Hanover, it is still very dry and the grass is a nightmare - and they are a bit worried about the quality of the hay and straw as well....

Boy sounds like Colorado last year. Hay prices went through the roof and quantity and quality where hard to find. I purchased all my hay late June/early July just to make sure I had what I needed. That aside this year in my part of Colorado is much the same, no serious rain since early June. Thankfully western Colorado has had substancial rainfall and the irrigation ditches are still flowing. Hay should be plentiful but my pasture is nothing but weeds. How these weeds survive is beyond me cause getting rid of them is impossible and you certainly can't grow anything to help choke them out.
