Hello fiends,
I am back - after an exhausting foaling season with endless, sleepless nights and all the hay harvest.
Due to the fact that some mare families.which are dead here in Germany, but blossoming in your country,I got the idea to describe in "The American Trakehner" their historical background, their results in breeding and competition and their value for the total breed of course. The start will be the story of the families of Jagd,Macka and Mafalda. The historical background and all the other information are ready now,I got the graded stallions out of these families too.But if you are breeding or competing with members of these bloodlines please feel free to tell me - either private to my e-mail-adress or better here in the Forum, because it might interest everybody. And please remember the deadline, which is very close.
Thank you very much and I am glad to hear from you very soon.

Sorry,I forgot to mention the family of Zitzewitz, which is part of the story too, with all her results in breeding and competition. Therefore, there are four American Trakhener families, which got their new basic in your countries for now,the story of more will be told later on.Tank you .

Hello Erhard - WELCOME BACK!
I hope you had a very successful foaling season.

I am very excited about your upcoming article.  My new boy by Encrico Caruso is from the family of Mafalda.  He just turned 3 so I have nothing to contribute in the form of performance history.  However, I'm sure I will not be disappointed. His temperament is WONDERFUL, he's a quick learner and a joy to work with!

His grandsire is Mandinka...(out of Marietta IV by Polarwind).  Does this trace back to Macka?

Thank you for your efforts and the valuable information your providing.

Take Care!

Erhard,
Weclome Back! And do please share some pictures of your Houston filly out of your Toscana (by EC) mare, and your handsome Kostolany-Pernambuco colt.
By Macka do you mean the mare by Wilder Jaeger out of Feenette (the family of Feodora)?
If so I am sure this is redundant to you, but Schickedanz had her daughter Eshi by Slesus, and then Edith Conyers had her full sister Marc Wise Eshi who was bred by Susan Dorsi to the TB race horse Mazarin xx (Bold Ruler xx-Crafty Admiral xx) and came up with the grey mare Make A Wish. She was fox hunted until she turned lame & ended up at Mae Jean Fitcher's barn in Lexington, KY. Mae bred her to her Elite Stallion Shoenfeld (Meilenstein-Ordenglanz) a couple of times. The results were two colts. Marquee who was approved by the NATA as a breeding stallion, and the gelding Bo'Diddley who loved to jump over obstacles whenever turned loose in the arena. Otis Brown spotted him & picked him up for a song & turned around & sold him in the hunter rings for around $350,000 U.S.! Mae bred her again, this time to her other stallion, the son of the Champion Seigneur (by Consul) out of a Flaneur (Arogno's sire)mare by the name of Harfa. I am sure you all know Hennessey. The result of this cross was a dark bay mare that I ended up buying last year, and is now in training at Hilda Gurney's barn, Keenridge. I call her My Negaar (literally: My Beloved). God willing she should start showing by the end of this summer.

Welcome back, Erhard.

Mandinka is a member of the Moosebeere family, same family of the 1997 champion Münchhausen!

Erhard -
I have a lot of ones from the line of Mafalda!  I owned the Wonderful Mafalda granddaughter Menuett*E*, until she was put to sleep in January 2003 due to declining health, at the age of 26.  Cry
A truely great mare, she showed in Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage, and Eventing, and even won Produce of Dam at Dressage at Devon.  She had the very best temperament, was the ultimate "mother-type".
Menuett*E* produced eventers, dressage horses, and jumpers.  She produced my Approved Stallion Meistersinger*Ps*, and I also still have her final two Approved daughters Mink and Mozaik (both by Kreshendo*Ps*).

Mozaik posesses the unique Rabicano color pattern that is carried in this line, and Mink appears to be so identical to her dam that she could be a clone.

This is truely a great line here -

Katamount - Did you buy the son of Mandetta???  If that is the one you are talking about, you are a lucky duck! Smiley

This is wonderful.  I have been hoping to learn more about Judith's family for quite some time.  (For all:  Judith is Jagd's dam).  I own a granddaughter of Jadg by Lolos.  Her registered name is Javeline and she is half sister to Justiz and bred by the Wharton family in Georgia.  "Twinky" has been rather hard to breed, but thanks to Debra at Tylord Farms I have two beautiful daughters of her's by Enrico Caruso who are 5 and 6 named Jubilance and Joanna.

Joanna is the mare with the "back problem" I discussed on the training site earlier this spring.  Her "back problem" was solved on May 29 with the arrival of Jefferson, as strapping first colt (121 pounds!) by Elazar (Laiken- Mahon).  She delivered this large foal easily in the early AM without making a sound!!  I got up to put her out and there he was.  That would not be so unusual except for the baby monitor that was working in the stall.  I could hear they coyotes in the canyon across the way.... but not a sound from her when she foaled!  No wonder she carried the pregnancy so well!

I will be happy to provide video and pics of all.  I do not have digital camera so the first roles of film are in for developing now.  He is a very nice bay colt with one white sock, uphill, strong with a great temperament.

I purchased "Twinky" at 11 (she is now 21) so we have not entered the show ring, but her earlier successes are listed on the ATA website (I think).  Jubilance was just put under saddle last summer and is learning very quickly while Joanna is of course "off" for the summer being a Mom.

Twinky is stong and sound at 21 with hopefully many years left, so I have great confidence in these bloodlines....."They keep going, and going, and going....."  Many people, including vets still look at her and estimate her age in the early/mid teens!!  Twinky is the result of the early importation of Trakehners into North America.  Her bloodlines all trace back to the original shipment into Canada and she is line bred to Slesus.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information about my girl's (and new boy).  I look forward to your article. If you would like to contact me directly, my email address is beckie@rand.org.

WELCOME BACK!!  ERHARD!!  You have been missed!!  Hope your foaling went well and all foals and mares are healthy.  I'm sure they are beautiful.

My mare, Phantyne, is a Jagd descendent via Justice, her sire.  I will pull my info together and post it later.  Thanks for all your work, I certainly look forward to your article.

Take care, and again, welcome back,
Eileen

You mentioned the family of Zitzewitz and I had to reply! She is listed in many pedigrees of successful horses in this country (USA) but is usually found in the 4th or 5th generation back at this point in time. Helen Gibble made a list of the most influential mares in ATA history, and Zitzewitz was right at the top. I have a Zitzewitz daughter by Preussengeist by the name of Zeitgeist, who was selected as an ideal reperesentative of the modern day Trakehner mare by Dr. von Velsen in 1984 at the annual ATA convention. She is now 25, lives with my stallion Polarmond, and surprised us with a bright flashy chestnut colt just before Thanksgiving. His pedigree has a "Back to the Future" appearance-Nan
