Sil,
You might want to check out the ATA website to get some basic info about Insterruf and his offspring. He's listed in the "stallions from our past" section under "stallions". The ATA site lists him having been retired in 2001.
Also, you might try contacting Insterruf's owners, the Pedersons. The ATA site has contact information for them. Its possible that they may now something about the mother of your Trakehner, too.
If you could provide more information about your horse's maternal ancestry, perhaps someone will have more information to give you. All you provided was her mother's name and that her mother was by Insterruf.

Hey SIL,
Didn't forget you, but had to do some research. I'm not the expert, but here goes:
From Trakehner Horses Then and Now by Fritz Schilke
"The Impuls Line... All of the horses in the line starting with Jagdheld and going through Ararad - Hutten - Humboldt - Impuls are large, full bodied, with strong bones, and yet they are very ground-covering movers. Impuls' dam Italia by Eichendorf (by Dampfross) was considered a top mare, not only in the East Prussian breed but among all German Warmbloods. Among the male get of Impuls, the black Insterruf must be mentioned as of particularly high quality and at the same time typical for this male line."
Insterruf's mare line O111A:
"Insterburg...The family of the roan mare Insterburg is the only family remaining that goes back to the breeding operation, renowned in East Prussia, of Freiherr von Schrotter. This family is represented by valuable broodmares. Very reliable in her genes was the Stern xx daughter Insterlied. Her daughter Insterschwalbe belongs to the highest quality mares of the breed. Her full brother Insterruf must be considered an above-average, good progenitor..."
Since you provided more information about the dam's side, I have found more information for you.
From The American Trakehner Summer/Fall 2002 Volume 28, No. 2 "Trakehner Mare Families: Family Founders in North America" by Helen Gibble:
Silja O200A1 is a North American Family Founder tied for 16th place out of 75 mare families for #'s in the OSB. The root mare is Sambolin and her straight line descendant is Sarona II, who has 6 members in the Trakehner Stutbuch vol II. Silja had scores of 2, 2, 2/2, 2 (Old German, very good scores) and was evaluated by U. Poll, who I think was the guest at the ATA meeting last year.
I'd have to do some more research, but it seems to me that your filly or mare Appendix Trakehner has some very valuable breeding bloodlines.
Going way back in the dam line of Schwalbenflug (the sire of Insterruf), Saaleck O35A from The American Trakehner Spring 1994 Vol. 20, No. 1 "Family Planning: Jumper Lines in the Trakehner Breed"
"This large family produced nine category A horses...Notable among them is the mare Schwalbe by Totilas...
ATA Stud Book mares belonging to this family:
Salve by Arrak Savana by Mozart Schakara by Habicht, dam of San Remo Schwalbenmadel by Blitzwind Sonset by Habicht, dam of Sonset's Sieger Susser Schatz by Tizian
I am sure there are more since this is from an older issue.
There is also an article from the Winter 1998/99 Vol. 24, no. 4 "Impuls: His Influence on the Trakehner 45 Years After He Was Born" by Susanne Harfst, DVM, and Gay McCall
The article is too big to put in here, but most notable to me are the following:
"Impuls' dam Italia was one of the most significant mares of the Trakehner breed during the years of World War II and thereafter. This legendary mare was also bred by Scharffetter, who was highly respected and admired as a Trakehner breeder far beyond the borders of East Prussia. In fact, Italia, who was given marks of 1,2,0/0,1 [where "0" is the best possible mark that can be given-Ed.], made the "trek" from East Prussia despite shrapnel in her hind leg. She died at the age of 18 years, one year after she foaled Impuls..."
There is also a chart showing "Neumunster Champions Or Reserve Champions With Impuls in Their Blood" (Those in all upper case letters are in the ATA Stud Book)
1965 Auftakt-Champion 1968 Kastor-Champion 1972 Grimsel-R. Champion 1973 Seeadler-Champion 1974 INSTERRUF-R. Champion 1975 Schwalbenfreund-Champion, MOZART-R. Champion 1977 Amadeus-Champion 1980 Santiago-Champion 1981 Highnoon-Champion, Steuben-R. Champion 1983 Holunder-Champ., Chopin-R. Champ. 1984 Itaxerxes-Champ., SAMURAI-R. Champ. 1985 Kupferberg-Gold-Champ., Schirmherr-R. Champ. 1986 SEIGNEUR-Champ. 1987 Kostolany-Champ., Caprimond-R. Champ. 1988 Guter Stern-Champ. 1989 Preussenprinz-Champ. 1990 HERZZAUBER-Champ. 1991 Kennedy-Champ., Sixtus-R. Champ. 1992 INDUC-R. Champ. 1993 Extravagant-R. Champ. 1994 Adamello-R. Champ. 1995 Gribaldi-Champ., Uljanoff-R. Champ. 1996 Farinelli-Champ., Trocadero-R. Champ. 1997 Munchhausen-Champ., Mataro-R. Champ.
Impuls was also considered a "marker stallion." "He produced a total of 17 approved stallions and 121 registered broodmares, 14 of whom became the dams of approved stallions." from "The Stallions in Your Horse's Pedigree-Part 3" by Ursula Liakos published in The American Trakehner Summer 1991 Vol. 17, No. 2
You will have to rely on Maren or the other "experts" from here as I can't read German and I don't have any more resources.

Sil, Here is some more info on Insterruf. Erhard had given me this info since my mare also is a descendent of his. If you go back further in the backlogs of the forum you may find more.
Insterruf became reserve champion of the grading in 1974.A lovely black stallion, with good size, bone, perfect conformation and a lot of presence, not always so elastic in his movements -but one of the most popular sires of those years, standing at stud Hörstein. He left 70 registered broodmares and 4 graded sons here. His influence has become quite rare within the last few years. His son Highnoon was champion of the grading, died very early because of a colic, but left his outstanding daughter Shynoon,Elite mare, who is one of the highest quality and most important broodmares today, founder of her own branch of the family and dam of Sabary and granddam of Sky Dancer and Sky Walker.Königsruf by Insterruf was exported to South Africa quite early;his bloodline is still alive through his son Königstein, who again is the grandsire of Dressage and breeding star Münchhausen.Insterruf's daughter Polaried is dam of the Grand-Prix-star Polarion. Two of his fullsisters are joining the herd of the wonderful Singingtrakehners in Great Britain. And there is of course Passarge by Insterruf, still breeding at Sommerlade stud and dam of Connie Kempters top mare Palma nigra. Therefore overall a quite impressive influence this old guy left here in his home country.
Hope this helps. This is fun, isn't it? I'm quite new at this as well and I find it intriguing.
Take care, Eileen
