Showgirl was due on May 24th, but was ready to rock our world on May 21st. She was up and nursing in 25 minutes and has been going strong ever since. She is friendly, inquisitive and delightful. She is an embryo transfer foal and a very tolerant AQHA mare, Vanessa, delivered her and is mothering her well.
Diamond Showgirl is by the Elite Danish Stallion, Diamond. Her dam is a top Kirov Trakehner mare named Oshoga. She is by Orech (by Hockey) out of an Almanach I mare. Oshoga is approved with the DV and is a DH mare. Diamond actually carries a high percentage of Kirov blood, Abglanz/Termit on both the sire and dam lines and Donouwind/Pregel. It will be a journey to watch this future athlete develop. We expect a full sibling that Oshoga is carrying sometime around June 11th, but I suspect this one will be early and also think it will be a colt, but it's just a feeling. A third Diamond is due in early July. This is another embryo transfer from Dreiskoole.
I would post a photo here, but don't know how to do it. There is a photo on our web page www.sportequine.com under 2003 foals.

Here's the link to make it easy to see a picture if anyone wants to.
Does anyone else have photos of foals? Is it proper to post them? I'm relatively knew, so if I'm breaking an unspoken rule, please tell me.
Regards, Donna

Gorgeous filly. And another to come!! Congratulations!! We will be watching for pics of that one as well. Enjoy them!!
You most certainly are not breaking any rules that I know of. In fact you will find a number of foal pics under announcements. We're always asking for pics of new babies. They are just too cute and too beautiful to resist.
Welcome to the forum. I am also a relative "newbie". Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I've found the people here to be very generous.
Congratulations, again. Take care, Eileen

Dear Gina and Eileen,
Thank you both for your generous praise of Showgirl. I cannot wait for the sibling. Oshoga (dam) was rolling around today getting the kid in position, I think.
I have a third foal by Diamond out of my Latvian mare. I know that's a stretch on the Trakehner BB, but she does have Trakehner in her. But then again, don't all the good ones? Diamond is older, so I did want to leverage that blood while available.
Next year I have to get busy making sure I have Trakehner stallions in the line up for the ladies for 2005 foals. For 2004 foals, I am using the stallion, Otschag, we just imported to get a good idea of how he will cross on various lines, etc. He is 1/2 Trakehner. I figure if I woudn't breed to him, why would I expect anyone else to book to him, right?
Well, thank you agian. This board is a wealthy with information and wisdom for breeders with so much experience.
