What improvement in height can you expect in breeding a 15 or 15.1 hand mare? (Another option is to breed Arab-Trakehners and not have an issue of height, just accept that they'll be smaller for those who like smaller).
I had a mare owner approach me with the same question. Her mare is a lovely Canadian Trakehner mare, out of a Nemo daughter, and is by the Canadian Trakehner stallion Hildebrand (Fagir X Heidehexe (Gero)). This mare is just shy of 15h. She did opt to try breeding this mare to Hadrian. The resulting foal was a beautiful filly of normal size. She looks at this time like she will mature to atleast 16h+. This mare has since had another foal by Impressionist, again of normal size and absolutely lovely.

The improvement in size that you will get (I won't even use the term "expect," because you really cannot EXPECT anything in offspring size without both parents having a proven track record!) will depend upon whom you breed to.
I would caution you against thinking that size does not matter in Arab-Trakehners. My experience has been that the bigger the better in that cross. Most of the people I have spoken with who are looking at the Arab-Trakehner cross are trying to stay in the Arab circuit with a half-bred but have a still-pretty horse that is bigger than a purebred Arab is likely to be. A small Arab-Trakehner does not fit the bill in either the Arabian or Warmblood market; the saving grace is if it might stay small enough to be eligible for pony competition.
If I had short purebred mares I would definitely look toward taking them to some of the bigger Trakehner sires or to a large Thoroughbred (depending on what would best complement their type and lines).
He hasn't got the show record that most folks are looking for in a stallion, but Donnerkeil has some babies that are quite talented and successful. And he reliably sires size along with grace and refinement. His smallest adult get is 15.3 - out of a 14.1 hand 1/2 Arab mare. My own Donnerkeil baby is going to be three in July and is already 16 hands - out of a 14.2 Polish/Crabbet Arab mare! I would have been happy with 15.2 or .3 but I'm thrilled that he's bigger. A 16.2 hand 1/2 Arab will make quite the impression in the Arab sporthorse classes.
