I'm still baffled by this.  I thought that once the Arab or Thoroughbred was approved, the resulting foal is considered a Trakehner.  By Anglo or Arab Trakehner, do you mean the Arab or Anglo parent was not approved?  Thus the foal would be registered as 1/2 Trakehner.  If so, is the desire for a brand change to distinguish these 1/2 Trakehners from other 1/2 Trakehners?

Thanks,
Eileen

Okay, let me see if I can clear up some of the questions:

My subject line was misleading.  It should have read: CHANGE to Article V. Elective Branding of Part-Trakehner Horses.

This only refers to horse(s) registered in the Official Registry Book or the Official Appendix Book who are NOT eligible for the full Trakehner brand.

Here is the motion that I brought forward at the meeting:

"I make a motion that we discontinue the use of the current Part-Trakehner brand and adopt a new Part-Trakehner brand to be selected from one of the attached designs or if attached designs are unacceptable by the membership, select an alternate design to be submitted at a later date."

The motion was tabled at the meeting.  This means that I have to get busy and submit designs to the Branding Committee and then there will be more discussion.  Our hope is that we will have a final amendment to vote on at next year's annual meeting.

Now, I have more information regarding the use of the Antlers or any part of the Antlers.  According to several sources who I spoke to at the annual meeting, we are not allowed to use any part of the Antlers in a design.  We have apparently signed a license agreement with them for the use of the full antlers for our association, but nothing more.

Therefore, I will need to submit alternate designs to the committee.  I do have some new ideas that I sketched while I was at the meeting and I will post a new poll.  I am open to any suggestions and ideas.  If you have a design, please e-mail it to me so that I can post it in the new poll that I will create later.

This is where we are now.  It may seem like next year is a long way off, but there is a lot of work that has to be done to get the amendment moving forward to vote on for next year's meeting.  Please send any ideas that you might have to me ASAP.

Thanks for your support and I hope that we can get a new brand.

Thanks, Melissa,
Sometimes I'm a little dense and have to be drawn "maps", so to speak.

Look forward to seeing your designs.

Take care,
Eileen
