I have a question for folks out there-- I have a mare by Maifeuer (who goes to Ibikus - Impuls - Donauwind) and have been looking at stallions. Of course, I always have to look at the new boy on the block, Fandango : )
Would breeding to a stallion that also goes to Ibikus - Donauwind be too closely related? What were traits where each stallion known to pass along (since I'd be "doubling up" on them)?
Thanks!!

If Ibikus is a common grandsire (or great grandsire) of the mare and stallion, the cross is likely A-OK. But do try to find someone who has concentrated this blood to see if it it worked well. Some lines do very well with breeding related horses to each other. In other cases it turns out to be bad idea. In the Arab world, breeding related horses produced the immortal Azraff ( I know two of his last sons - WOW!!!- still lovely even in their old age). In the QH world, it created Impressive, and we all know what his big contributin was . . . . .

Fuzzy-I need to clarify my previous post, because I think we agree--four generations includes the foal in my calculations.
