Hello all... I have an Enrico Caruso daughter that I plan on breeding next year. I was hoping for some stallion suggestions, specifically stallions that cross well with EC daughters. Thanks in advance!

JenS, It would help to know your breeding objectives. Enrico (EC) is an excellent sire and has produced many good horses. One of the foundations mares of Otto Langels is a daughter of EC named Kassuben (Kassette damline) who has done some wonderful things for Haemelschenburg (http://www.gestuet-haemelschenburg.de/html/e_kassu.html). Also one of the top Trakehner stallions in Gemrany is a result of breeding EC to a Falke-Ibikus-Impuls mare by the name of Kapstadt (of Kassette family again). The resulting colt is a wonderful stallion called Kostolany. I know the Langels have bred many of their broodmares to their Michelangelo-Arogno stallion Summertime, and have been very happy with this combination. Michelangelo is a son of Pasteur xx, and EC his grandson. Former dressage Olympian Hilda Gurney seems very excited about her 2-yr old grandson of EC out of a v-line daughter of his. The colt's sire is her grandprix stallion Leonidas by Condus out of the elite daughter of Siegbert, Libela V. He is a handsome colt with breathtaking movements. As I mentioned before it all depends on your mare's damline & your breeding goals. I am sure Debra Tylor (EC's owner) can make some wonderful suggestions, as she has been succesfully breeding EC daughters for many years now. Good Luck!

Hi, I would love to know more about your mare's dam line. I have two EC daughters whom I am "shopping" for. The oldest is due to deliver a Elazar (Laiken) foal any day now. I am very interested to see what the foal looks like with an eye on who to breed to next year.
Is your mare better suited for dressage or jumping and what are your breeding goals? I had several stallions in mind for my girls, but they were all older and most have passed in the last two years. So it is time to shop the younger generation.....

hi,
i have to agree with karim about the summertime-ec cross!! our own mare hepburn by kostolany (by enrico caruso) has had two foals by summertime. the first one, histoire, was the highest scoring foal at the haemelschenburg foal branding last year. she received a 10 on her trot and a total score of 59 points. you can see her picture at haemelschenburgs website www.langels-gbr.de. this year, hepburn had a summertime colt: harry potter. he looks as good as his sister and is a definite stallion prospect. you can look at the photo, it shows harry a few hours after his birth at the same day. in my opinion there ist no better cross for a ec-line mare than a stallion carrying arogno or michelangelo-blood. and summertime carries both. by the way you can get the frozen semen from summertime in the usa!!! look at www.marblehillstables.com or www.langels-gbr.de
