Fleury (Erzsand x Flugprinzessin) had her first foal last night . A lovely filly by Stilletto. Pictures will follow as soon as they are available. Foaling season if over for me 2 colts, 2 fillies and all in all a great crop. Now starts showing and breeding, no rest for the weary

Congratulations!! Very cute. Please send some of him standing up when you get the chance. Is he bay or going to go gray? Looks to have a lovely face.

Thank you Navar, she has the sweetest, typey face. Will forward on some 'standing shots' when we get them As for the gray, not sure yet. Her Dam is a chestnut by a gray (Erzsand) and her sire is a gray by a bay (martini). I 've never owned a gray horse so I'm not sure what the genetic rules are Maybe some of you 'in the know' can share what color I can expect here

Hi Terri,
Congrats! What a cutie-pie!
He looks grey to me. Incidentally, Erzand's grey is irrelevant to this kid's color. Grey is dominant, so you need only one grey gene (from either mom or dad) to make a grey. And conversely, if a horse HAS a grey gene, he IS grey. So if this kid turns out grey, it is because of Stiletto's grey mother

Congrats on the darling filly. She looks adorable. Looks like lots of light color -- maybe gray?
Would also like to see the whole crop. Take care, Eileen

Duh! I called her a him; sorry! She looks to be lovely. I just noticed that it looks like the black on her legs and around her eyes is a little salt and peppery looking. Usually a few grey hairs around the eyes or on the back of the foal's ears is a hallmark that the foal will eventually turn grey. I adore grey horses. Being born bay, if she does go grey, she may keep her black points for some time and be really striking.

OMG, I called her a "he" too! I was looking at everyone's foal pictures and then responding and forgot genders as I went! Sorry!

Congrats! She is a looker! Only hope my little Stiletto is as cute, only a month 'til we find out. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks one and all for all your lovely comments on my new little girl. I will try to get new pics of everyone and if I really push myself may finally get my dang-nabit web site up. In the mean time I've put a very important warning note under health issues that everyone that breeds a foal should read. Sometimes personal experience is the hardest earned knowledge.

Congratulations Terri! I am so glad that Copper (aka Fleury) has a great home with you. Though I miss her (my first horse for those of you reading my post), I am sure that she will not miss showing and is enjoying retirement eating, sleeping, and having babies.
