Stuart Horse Trials

CIC**
Dibelius and Darren Chiacchia

Open Intermediate
Zauberruf and Darren Chiacchia

Open Preliminary-B
Hydrangia and Darren Chiacchia

Open Training
Ballzauber and Darren Chiacchia
Schwalbestrum and Doug Payne

Looks like it should be an exciting weekend in New York!  Darren is out in full force, and is running Dibelius at what I am told is a very challenging 2*.  Zauberruf is up against serious competition from the very best horses and riders in the sport, including Phillip Dutton and Sinead Halpin.  I'm very excited to see how Hydrangia does over a more difficult cross country course then she is used to.  Of course Ballzauber has a great chance to be leading after dressage, let's see if he and Darren have worked out the kinks in the jumping phases.  It's also great to see Terri Sikora's very talented Schwalbestrum going to work under Doug Payne.  I can't wait to see how this pair does together!

Keep your eyes locked on your computers, updates start tomorrow morning!

Stuart Horse Trials

CIC**
19-T of 23, Dibelius and Darren Chiacchia with a 64.6 after dressage.

Open Intermediate
30th of 30, Zauberruf and Darren Chiacchia with a 43.6 after dressage.

Open Preliminary-B
18th of 18, Hydrangia and Darren Chiacchia with a 45.6 after dressage.

Open Training
1st of 27, Ballzauber and Darren Chiacchia with a 29.6 after dressage!
8th of 27, Schwalbestrum and Doug Payne with a 33.6 after dressage!

Great start for Ballzauber and a very nice start in a tough division for Scwalbestrum, as well!  He's got a nice partnership forming with Doug already!

Rough start in the OI and OP division for DC.  He's also in 29th place in the OI with his horse Amendment 15.  Very tough competition, and the judging must have been particularly tough.  Zauberruf is obviously very green at these levels, but Amendment 15 is typically a very strong dressage ride.

I've heard the footing is very hard, so I'm told that DC will not be gunning for the optimum time if it's difficult to make.  Let's hope for safe rounds that leave everyone healthy and sound after XC!

Stuart Horse Trials

CIC**
Eliminated, Dibelius and Darren Chiacchia with a 64.6 after dressage, unfortunately eliminated on XC.

Open Intermediate
15th of 30, Zauberruf and Darren Chiacchia with a 43.6 after dressage.  They moved up 15 places with a no jumping and 23.2 time faults on XC.

Open Preliminary-B
11th of 18, Hydrangia and Darren Chiacchia with a 45.6 after dressage.  Adding 10.8 time penalties on XC, they moved up seven places.

Open Training
1st of 27, Ballzauber and Darren Chiacchia with a 29.6 after dressage, and a double clear XC round!
21st of 27, Schwalbestrum and Doug Payne with a 33.6 after dressage, unfortunately they added a stop and 5.6 time penalties XC to drop from 8th.

Incredibly difficult cross country courses at Stuart this weekend.  In the 2* fully HALF of the starters were eliminated by stops or falls, including at least 3 horse falls.  The hard footing and difficulty of the courses also led to one-third of the Intermediate and Prelim starters being eliminated on XC or withdrawing before the start.

It looks like BZ and Darren put things together on a difficult XC course to really show their stuff!  Can't wait to see their round tomorrow, fingers crossed for all!

A quick note, if Zauberruf finishes in the top half of his division (right now he's right on the line!) he'll have the necessary qualifying scores for his *Pb* designation, I believe.  As a six year old stallion!

CIC**
Eliminated, Dibelius and Darren Chiacchia with a 64.6 after dressage, unfortunately eliminated on XC.

Open Intermediate
14th of 30, Zauberruf and Darren Chiacchia with a 43.6 after dressage.  They moved up 15 places with no jumping and 23.2 time faults on XC.  Two rails in SJ and they were still able to move up a spot.

Open Preliminary-B
8th of 18, Hydrangia and Darren Chiacchia with a 45.6 after dressage.  Adding 10.8 time penalties on XC, they moved up seven places.  With a double clear SJ they moved up again to finish in 8th!

Open Training
4th of 27, Ballzauber and Darren Chiacchia with a 29.6 after dressage, and a double clear XC round!  One unfortunate rail in SJ drops them back from 1st.
21st of 27, Schwalbestrum and Doug Payne with a 33.6 after dressage, unfortunately they added a stop and 5.6 time penalties XC to drop from 8th.  Four rails in SJ has saw them maintain their position.

Great weekend for Ballzauber, he's starting to put all the pieces together.  One unfortunate rail in SJ, knocked them back from 1st place to 4th in a very tightly contested Training division.

Tough start to the weekend for Hydrangia GS, fortunately her incredible jumping talent saved the day and she moved up from 18th to finish 8th!  She's a very nice mare, quite young, and not confirmed in the dressage yet.  She's got a bright future ahead of her.

Zauberruf really did well in his second Intermediate event!  His dressage has to improve, but the gaits and ability are there.  He is just very green at this point.  His jumping ability is always present, he did very well on a difficult cross country course.  Another step closer to becoming one of the top UL Trakehner eventers in the country.
