I'm hoping to spend a year or so in Germany as a working student, so I have taken one year of university level German. Unfortunately, helpful horse terms rarely come up in class. Can any of you fluent German speakers help me to compile a list of useful horse terms? I'd like as complete a list as possible, anything from: saddle, bridle, stable, stallion, mare, gelding to walk, trot, canter, extension, collection, leg yield, halp-pass, etc. Anything horse or dressage related. Thank you in advance. You can post here or e-mail me privately at dayniak@yahoo.com.

Here are some useful terms:
saddle-Sattel bridle-Trense stirrup-Steigbügel spurs-Sporen whip-Gerte leg yield-Schenkelweichen half pass-Traversale rein back-Rückwärtsrichten walk-Schritt trot-Trab canter-Galopp extension-Verstärkung collection-Versammlung circle-Zirkel riding boots-Reitstiefel helmet-Helm or Kappe mare-Stute stallion-Hengst gedling-Wallach foal-Fohlen (no such thing as "colt" and "filly" in German, we say "Stutfohlen" for the females and "Hengstfohlen" for the male foals)
I might have a working student position for you, contact me privately!
