Herzberg: I have never seen this horse, he was never approved in germany, as far as I know, so he will also not show up with the ATA. Maybe he will be presented in Seattle this fall?

Too bad, he looks nice and his bloodlines are 1A. As long as he's not shown to the ATA, he can't produce Trakehner foals in NA. You guys would reall miss out on something....maybe somebody should get in touch with the new owners to see if they are planning to approve him with the ATA.

Hi, I'm the owner of Herzberg and Arlington, Herzberk was approved with the Rheinland-Pfalz-Saar verband in Germany because his previous owner lived there and registered all of his horses there. Herzberg then went on to successfully completed his 100 day test at Adelheidsdorf. Herzberg then won the Southern German Jumping Championships as a 4 year old with an amazing 9.0!!!! Herzberg also won many Material classes as well as dressage classes up to 3rd level. I then bought him and imported him to the U S . I will be competing Herzberg at the FEI Dressage level and will be competing for a spot on the Pan Am Games Team for the USET this year. I have been persueing getting Herzberg approved for the ATA but the road so far has been difficult. After talking with a certain member of the board, He actually expected me to fly my stallion from California to Florida just so the could have a look at him. Then he told me if I didn't want to do that then I would have to wait till next year and even then he cannot guantee that there will be a inspection any where near California and that I would have to droive at least into another state. I told him that this could just not be and then asked him what is with Hilda Gurneys place and he told me ya I could have brought Herzberg to be looked at but they couldn't have approved him then because it was a mare inspection and they could not look at stallions when they were there looking at mares.I think this is a little bit ridiculous. Is this the way the ATA does things all the time? I was also told that the ATA doesn't inspect most of all the foals and everybody just has them branded. I think this is bad for the Verband because they don't ever get to look at the offspring that ther registered Stallions are producing, that doesn't sound very proffessional to me. I'm still willing to have Herzberg inspected and approved for the ATA I just think that they have to get some new refreshing people in there who are willing to work a little bit harder and make somthing out of the ATA. I also don't think that it's good promotion to be rude to there customers !!Especially ones that have enough money to import and who are willing to import such Great Stallions!! I ask myself if we could not be treated with just a little bit of respect. If anyone has any ideas on how to make our life easier with the ATA stallion inspection please let me know. Thank you

I'm sorry I justwent on and on about Herzberg and the ATA but didn't say much about Arlington. Thank God that he was already approved by the German Trakehner Verband when I imported him which made thinks alot easier for me.Arlington is a surpurb stallion!!! I have taken him on to many wins up to Intermediare I . This year his median PSG score was at 66% . Sadly I had one show to less to become USDF Trakehner Horse of the Year at Prix St. George.Arlinton was also 2001 Champion Trakehner at the LAEC Breeders Classic and also overall Highpoint Horse of the entire show!! Arlington succeded in Jumping competitions in Switzerland before I bought him in Germany were we trained for 8 years before coming to the US. I believe Arlington is a good match for many diffrent types of mares. I have seen many of his offspring all thru Euope and they all remarkable resemble him. The certainly all get his Character and willingness to perform. They all have his uphill built neck and powerful activity of the hindquarters which gives him the great ability to collect himself extremly well. His walk has always been and still is with 15 yrs. very generous with a greatfully large overstep. It's of great importance these days to have a good quality swinging walk, something most people seem to forget when picking out a stallion for there mare. Arlington continously gets 8's and 9's for his gaits as well as his trot extensions walk extensions, canterpiouettes and some other collected movements. I very often tell some of my mare owners to put Arlington on there sometimes hotter or more difficult mares because of his gentlemanlike relaxed character, this stallion has absoultly one of the best temperaments I've ever known!! Arlington stands very good on four very correct legs with nice big feet,(not always seen on most trak.) I promise that you will not be disappointed with a Breeding from Arlington or Herzberg!!! Hope I could be of some help in getting some info's out there. For some pic's go to www.Germandressage.com

Hi Karim, Thank you for your info's.I will certainly call Hilda and talk to her about the situation.I'm sure that when the year is over Herzberg will have won enough FEI classes which will then maybe make things easier. I'm sending out your DVD in the morning so you should get it within 2 days time. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks again Jennifer

I know that in 2001 and 2002 Herzberg produced in both consecutive years the Reserve Champion State Premium Elite Mare for Rheinland - Pfalz - Saar Verband, both of these mares have won Material classes and the 4 year old has won already dressage classes at 1st level with scores of up to 82%. From the first year at stud he had both the Champion Colt and the Champion Filly of the RPSI Verband. One of Herzbergs son's is winning some bigger Jumping competitions in the south part of Germany I have been told. I've still been trying to get more info on Arlington's offspring from Belgium and Switzerland which hasn't been so easy considering that there system isn't as accuate as the German system. I went and saw some of his offspring before I bought him and I really liked what I saw, that is why I decided to purchase him at the time. Another problem I had at the time that I had bought him is that the stud farm where I bought him from was going bankrupt which was the reason why he was for sale. People told me that they didn't manage their stallions properly and that is why they ended up have to sell everything. I asume that is also the reason why Arlington didn't get as many mares as he could have gotten somewhere else.Another stallion that had been standing stud their didn't get even one mare for over 3 years. When I got Arlington they told me that they hadn't ridden him for over 1/2 a year, they had just used him for breeding.Arlington's breeding is very impressive ,with some good foundation sires and a great mare line of Arbeitgeberin.I have some more people looking farther into Arlington's offspring results.I have a video of many of Arlington's Foals but the quality of the video is so bad you can't hardly see much, except the one of other foal out of very diffrent mares! All have really long legs and a very active engine behind with nice uphill necks and small heads and faces. I'm very happy that Arlington found his way to me!!! This Stallion has given me many happy moments since his been with us!

It still amazes me how much damage one mis-informed individual can do. First off, you need to contact the ATA office and request a nomination form to get your stallion inspected. Most forms can be downloaded from the ATA web site. Unfortunately for you, the inspection schedule has already been made up for 2003. If you have not nominated your stallion for inspection, the ATA office has no way to organize an inspection close to you. Just by telling "a certain board member", that you wish to have your stallion inspected is not enough. Also they cannot send 4 + inspectors for one stallion, because the ATA simply cannot afford to loose that kind of money, but I do know that at least one other stallion was nominated for California. There is a stallion inspection near Seattle WA. this year at the ATA annual meeting. Erhard and Maren are not on the ATA Inspection Committee and therefore, cannot do much to help you. It is obviously in your best interest to bring one or both of your Trakehner stallions to the ATA annual meeting as many people are expected to attend, and the exposure your stallions will receive will be more than worth your effort. If I can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me. My favorite quote of the day is: It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Shawnda,
Just an observation, but your postings seem more of a put down to members and/or enthusiasts who may not know all the ins and outs of ATA administration. I have observed you doing this twice now. Once directed at me and now to Jennifer Hoffman. You evidently are automatically assuming that we are idiots and don't have a clue what we are doing with our horses.
Your input might be better received if you would try to educate people on this forum instead of trying to make us feel like idiots.
