Earlier response got lost in "internet space"; try again. This is a great idea Karim! There's also Leverkeusen in 2 months. Booked my trip yesterday and air fare is VERY attractive. Round-trip D/FW to Frankfurt for under $500.
Yipppppeeeeeeeee; can't wait!

What are the dates? What do you think the approximate cost would be?

There is normally a very large British contingent at NMS (I think there must have been 40-50 last year) - and quite a few of us get over there for other events (three of us made it for the stallion show this weekend - i put some comments on the breeding board - GREAT show!) - and Leverkusen. From the UK, I normally count on a flight cost of £40 to £150 all in and hotels are very cheap in Germany (compared to the UK anyway).
The Verband office will always arrange accomodation for you and can sort out anything from B&B to 5 star - depending on what you want.
It's great - come along!!!!

Most Germany speak English. We start English in school at 5th grade all the way through high school. Even my grandmother (86) speaks English because she lives in an American military community. Many people here had contact with British/merican soldiers for the past 60 years, and the kids that were in school after 45 all know some English. You can get around Germany in pure English for a month and would maybe run into one or two problems in down-south Bavaria

I hardly speak a word of German (pretty awful of me given my partner IS German!) - but it is never a problem - I would totally agree with Maren. Especially at the big events like NMS you could quite easily only meet English speakers.
Apart from Maren, Erhard et al., in the Verband office Janni Christlein and Ulrike Bustoff both speak excellent English. And outside the competitions themselves (eg at airports, in shops etc) there is always someone who can speak English. The fact that I can't speak German yet is, admittedly, mainly just my laziness, but also that I've never needed to enough to make me learn!
