The excitement's building!!  My airfare & hotel are booked and the Official Selection Tour is underway!!!  (162 colts are pre-selected; about 33% will head to NMS).

On August 18th, 36 colts were inspected at Gestüt Altenrade in Holstein.  Nine were selected; 10 made Reserve list (Maren, after selections are done does Verband review the Reserve list to see if any of these should also be included in the group going to NMS?)

I'm excited to see the Best Before Midnight - Hohenstein - Upan la Jarthe AA.  Lots of Anglo Arab in this one!!  Also am quite interested to see the Long Deal - Hockey - Inster Gradtiz jump.

Contratulations to Lea Ann Hansen's Schiffon *Ps* who is the dam's sire of an Ovaro colt officially selected.   Grin

Wow, things are moving fast!  Seventeen (17) colts are now officially selected; 15 on Reserve list.  Among the newly selected, another one joins my "most interesting to see jump" list:  Grafenstolz - Balisto Z - Caanitz!!

Talking to Maren last night discovered that #50 is a full brother to last year's Reserve Champion (IMO this should've been Champion): All Inclusive.

Her friend (and former co-owner of '08 Siegerhengst, Iskander) has seen this colt and thinks he's even better!!  That's a VERY big statement!  Can't wait to see #50 in person; meanwhile, here's All Inclusive from Muenster Handorf last year (when he was a 3yo w/a few months under saddle):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1uesdSrSlQ&feature=related

44 stallions now officially selected and while several stallions have 2 sons selected, it's E.H. Connery who seems to be the "flavor of the year" with 3 so far tapped.

Excited the Gipsy King - Fruend - Fierant xx was selected, and legendary sires E.H. Caprimond and Kostolany will both be represented.  Can't WAIT for October!!

I'd like to see #43 Freudenfest o/o SPS+PS Belvedere by Fontainbleau - Schwadroneur

#49 Grafenstolz TSF o/o Poschina by Stan the Man xx - EH Rockefeller - this one has to be an eventing machine

and #227 EH Beg xx o/o Kabul by Holunder - EH Sixtus

Hirtentanz seems to be being bred to mares with a lot of blood?

There is a son of Sedar on the list but without a number. Is that correct?

Yes, correct.  He was a late addition.

I don't think Hirtentanz breeds particularly many blood mares (unfortunately). He breeds across the board and really any pedigree (like Hohenstein daughters .....).

I'm with you on #227!!

Can anyone give me a link to the Sedar son?

Sedar is heavily Anglo-Arab so probably a long shot.

My mare, Summer, is related so I have a personal interest.

Of particular interst to me:

12 Grafenstolz TSF o/o Hermine III by Balisto Z - Caanitz  T14O1 Herbstlicht Gestüt Schmoel/Panker (OMG, what a pedigree; can't wait to see this one jump!)

14 EH Gribaldi o/o SPS+PS Allerbeste by EH Buddenbrock - El Zid  O60A Abendglocke Specht-Arnsfelde (Because word has it he's even better than full brother All Inclusive, whom I loved)

20 Hirtentanz o/o Tiara VI by Humanus - Caanitz  O156A Trude Maurischkat-Argenquell (Antargen)

41 Sky Dancer o/o Oststar by Mangan xx - Aspirant T14R1a Oszi

43 Stradivari o/o Eurydice de L'Huisne by Iglesias - Perkunos  (Because anytime there's a Stradivari, I'm IN)

Thanks, Maren.
Beautiful face, head and neck.

Do you have a link for the farm that stands Sedar?

Do they speak/write in English?

woo hoo - all my picks made it through. I'm in for #2, #11 and #13. I've only seen #2 though.

I'd not heard of Easy Game before and there's not a lot of info out there - where does he stand?

Are all the horses at Neumunster for sale including the foals?

Oakstable: Sedar is stationed at Gestüt Ahornhof in East Germany. Their website is here: http://www.ahornhof.com, but it's under construction right now. I'm also not sure about English, but I would try. here's the address: kontakt@ahornhof.com

JRR: not all stallions are for sale. However, ALL mares, riding horses and foals are for sale - it's an auction  Wink My favorite foal is the Ibisco xx - Donaumonarch filly. Since seeing a handful of Ibisco xx foals in Germany, Holstein and Trakehner, I would dare say this is one of the best TBs that has come along in a very long time. Great foals, excellent movers, very uphill, and the stallion has a wonderful jump, along with a great pedigree. With the Donaumonarch in the background, this is one heck of a good investment. I doubt it'll be expensive, the Anglos never tend to be too high in €.
I also think the Tycoon - Fleethingyer Opposition colt is very interesting, with Etong so close and out of this excellent performance family (Arabica, Arc de Triomphe, Arlette, Artistic-Rock).

I'm with Kim on some of them, but if Grafenstolz, zhen the Stan the Man xx is more to my liking I guess. We saw a Grafenstolz out of a Blisto sister last year and that was an ok horse, but short legged and not very harmonious. Good jumper, but it seemed like a "waste" to breed that mare to Graf when you could have picked true jumpers.

I'm very disappointed that both the Best before Midnight and the Gipsy King apparently didn't make it, or were withdrawn.

WOW; totally missed their withdrawal.  Disappointing; hopefully they'll show up in the Spring?

Being quick as a fox, I just realized neither Special Memories *Pg* colt made the final selection for NMS.  Maren, do you know if either was tapped for the Spring Fruehjahrkoering?

The Special M x Graziello colt was injured, but shown just in hand and requested to come to Spring approval. The Special M x Friedensfürst was not shown at all. Don't know why.

Pat, Natalie and Susan are coming too!!
