Yup, you read that right. I took my 17 yo mare to her second dressage show ever (1 show at intro 12 years ago) and only her third show of any kind. I was nervous in the first class (we are both novices) and rode pretty conservatively. Both classes were training 1. Got a 60.87 for 4th of 5 in novice rider. Rode a little more assertively in second class and got 64.8 and 1st in open training 1. Such a good girl for putting up with me!!
Congratulations Deb to you and your 17-year young mare. That's wonderful!!! Sounds like you and your mare are a good team and have a great connection. Very best wishes to you and your mare for continued fun and success!
Thanks!! I'm still broken hearted that I was never able to get this mare to carry to term but I'm going to continue enjoying her for as long as I can. We've been together for 13 years now.
Silly girl had enough of being good and decided to be spooky in the fresh new sand in our ring last night. Managed to hang on and not end up making sand angels in the footing. Maybe someday I'll tell her she's getting old.
