Wow, what a venue. With a 3*-W (WEG selection) this was a virtual who's who of eventing masters - with US, Canadian (and former Australian) Olympic riders showing up. Several times during the 3days I'd turn around to see Buck Davidson, Phillip Dutton, Boyd Martin and David or Karen O'Connor!!
Daunting courses - both xc and sj - caught out several horses who are typically among the 'ones to watch' (for example, last year's 5yo YEH Champion Claire de Lune SE (2nd after dressage) was Retired on course and Dutton had 16 SJ penalites on his usually reliable Truluck (dropping him from 1st to 3rd . . . a $6,000 error!).
Friday morning after walking the course w/Sara, I was a bit nervous about Harry's xc, but he rose to the occasion, moving from a tie for 6th (tense dressage test after a draft-x literally ran into him on way into the arena) to 3rd w/no jumping or time penalties. An unlucky rail in stadium dropped him to eventual 4th, but was SO proud of him b/c this HT was a test of both skill and heart. GO HARRY!

Thanks Terri & Bonnie. I've been away for a few days so thanks is overdue, but I appreciate it. Spoke to Sara yesterday and she's definitely moving him up to Preliminary in September, so stay tuned on more to come from this pair!
