I'm actually really surprised that these news have not been seen here so far!
5 (five, yes, five) medals for Trakehners in eventing and dressage at the North American Young Rider/Junior Championships in 2010!!!! Who is monitoring big events for the ATA these days? Why are the news not up on the website with flashes?? This is prime promotion material
Piece one: At the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, Team Canada/Ontario won Team Silver in the Young Rider division. Part of the team is Amy Jager with her gelding Key West (by EH Charly Chaplin), who was bred in Germany by the Gerke Family of Uslar, and is owned by Claudia and Ruth Demand of Ontario, CAN. Not quite 2 points kept the Team from winning Gold! Congratulations Team Key West!!
Piece two: At the North American Championships in Eventing (Juniors and Young Riders), the individual Gold and Silver medals in the Young Rider division were won by Trakehners!! Kelly Pugh and her grey mare Copycat Chloe (by Stiletto *Ps* o/o Copy's Dancer xx by Alezan Dancer) ried for 2nd place after dressage, moved to 3rd after 4 time penalties on the demanding cross country course, and put in one of only two double clear stadium rounds to win Gold with 55.9 points. Silver went to Missy Miller and TSF Amazing Grace (by Tycoon (the German one) o/o Artemis xx by Lagunas xx), who was 10th after dressage, moved to 6th after a fast cross country round that only cost them 1 sec over the time, and was the second horse to go double clear during the stadium phase for a finish with 58.7 points. TSF Amazing Grace was also a member of the Gold medal winning team (Area III), while Copycat Chloe also took a team medal - Silver, for Area VI and VII!
Photos are up on TI. CONGRATULATIONS to all involved, this is absolutely amazing!!!!!

Unfortunately, that doesn't make the news "appear" on the ATA website and that is clearly where they belong!

Bonnie, we already had this discussion here. IMHO, this is the job of the ATA. In fact, the ATA should contact the riders/owners, who are not all ATA members, and congratulate them, invite them to the next meeting, and put some effort into making these people part of the Trakehner family. Sorry if people don't see it this way, but that is how OTHER much more successful warmblood registries in Germany and the US do it. Time to learn from the others. All IMHO of course. I think I'm doing enough on various volunteer website projects to promote the Trakehner horse and its accomplishments worldwide. It's a loss for the ATA, not anybody else, to not get their act together and be more proactive in working with riders/owners/trainer like these.
Shawnda, I am already submitting an article for the next ATA mag, and I'll make sure this piece gets included.

Maren, The office is contacting the owners of these horses and inviting them to participate in our activities. So as Members we all need to give the contact info to the office so they can either call or e-mail them.
