It that time of year I guess. 3 yr old starting under saddle.
We started Truman under saddle and he is doing super. I have been playing and ground driving him for a while now, so he could care less about saddle work.

Anyone have any baby shows planned??

I have a filly that is turning 3 next month. We did some lunging and longlining with her last year. I hope to back her by this fall. She's about 16.1 hands, but still looks babyish and has a lot more growing to do.

Snapper (reg. Semper Fidelis) turned 3 last week but Gary Mittleider started him in February. Like you & Truman, he'd been ground driving him and he never missed a beat once they put a rider in the saddle. I think the ground driving really helps youngsters not only get used to the saddle but what the touch on the reins means.

Truman Such a good boy - but knew he would be.
The ones I've had started this year were 4 year olds so not in your age group.. but I did get all of my "age elig" horses broke this winter/spring. They were all FANTASTIC, so proud of the kiddos. Converted the HOL GP Jumper rider that is riding for me and helping me out that TKs are not crazy stupid LOL (and his KWPN/HOL UL dressage riding girlfriend too!).
Lots of pics on FB of them all - Pearl Jam (shown under Pearl Hailo) just completed her first 3 Phase schooling show at Poplar last weekend with her new owner - ended on her dressage score and was 5th in the class (9 entered). She was started in Dec. She will do a recognized BN in July.
Emerald Tsar went to a BIG schooling show this last weekend - was 5th out of 30+ horses in the 2'6" jumper class on a double clear round (and he doesn't turn 4 until june really so he DOES meet the 3 YO topic lol). Then he was 7th out of 20+ in all of the hunter divisions he went in - (one division each day and fence heights were 2'6" - 2'9") and only had one rail all weekend... he was started in Jan.
Emerald Fire (who is WAY late to be started) was started in Jan and is being shown Training Level dressage in 2 weeks, recognized show.
Sera Veneziano has been started but not shown yet, taking it a little slower with her...
I love it that everyone is out and doing thiings now!!!

I have a Schiffon filly that will be three in June. She is still a little small and we may leave her for a while before starting her. My trainer is out for the season with shoulder surgery and we still have a four year old Elfado daughter that is unstarted.

Kim, this is the NMS auction filly Miss Mary by Elfado out of Maiwolke by Arrak - Habicht, a mare that competed at 1.40m show jumping. Filly turned into a stunning and very tall mare, and I'm looking forward to hear and see more of her once Judy has her in work. The dam line is O66A Maricka (Heinschke -Setterich), the very same as E.H. Manrico!
