I learned late yesterday that a mare we bred (a 2000 foal) was one of 28 horses seized in Sorrento FL on May 19 for neglect and starvation. I am absolutely sick to know one of our girls has suffered this way.

The horses have been under the care of the County for a month now, and the case was to go to court today. I am trying to find out what happens next to these horses. Konamore, the mare we bred, was high score at her inspection, and bred some stunning offspring for David Beattie before the current owner bought her. If anyone has information or is in that area, we would dearly love an update and will help in any way we can to be certain Konamore receives care and love.

Apparently there was an out-of-court settlement and the horses are actually going back into the situation. I feel so d**n helpless.

If someone approached her to buy her (and by approach I mean in a nice, non threatening manner) do you think she would? or place the mare with someone?
I cannot take in another horse perm, but can hold her until the new owner can come get her if that is needed (say someone in another state could take in the mare but needed a few weeks to come down to get her).... Carol, have you tried to contact the owner?
