Trakehner Eventing!
|
I'm planning on joining up with two local hunts here in Tampa/Ocala this fall. My mare Pirouette is hopefully going to be my fox hunting extraoardinaiire!
I've read a lot online about the sport, but was wondering if anyone can help with necessary attire, tack, gear etc...if you know of a great resource online I'd love to see it.
Thanks everyone
Sean

Sean, I'll hook you up w/Melanie Gatewood - who's orginally from England and foxhunts here (yes, in Texas!) regularly.
She owns a 2009 Tzigane filly who she bought to event & foxhunt, so the 2 of you should have LOTS to talk about. E-mail me privately and I'll give you her contact info.

Excellent, thanks JRR...I'll be cruising it for more info!
That's very cool Kim, I'd love to talk to her! Do you all have live hunts there or mostly drag? We have a drag hunt and a live hunt near me in Tampa/Ocala area I hear. The live hunt is more of a coyote hunt instead of a fox hunt!

It's best to ask the hunt secretary of the hunt you plan to go out with what their protocol is. It varies from hunt to hunt. Some are more formal than others. COTH may have a hunt roster on its website that lists the hunt secretaries for various hunts and their contact info. They put out a hunt roster issue every year with this information.
I have a trak mare that I hunted second flight for a season as she was only four. She did well and I'm hoping to go again this season. We hunt in Texas, not Florida, so I can't give you any info on Florida hunts unfortunately.
