Would anyone be interested in a Western Slope/Colorado Inspection in 2011?
Our local fairgrounds would be capable of handling a stallion inspection if people were interested. There is a big indoor, several outdoor arenas, stabling for 100 horses (permanent with box stalls), even a race track
Stalls prices include cleaning ($14.50) and the local 4H ers are available for braiding and concessions. There is a local airport (Grand Junction) and hotels and the RV/LQ hookups are free at the fairgrounds.
The thing is, it would have to be booked early next spring for a july/august/sept date (to avoid travel over the mountains from the east earlier or later). So the ATA would need to know asap in 2011 so that they can arrange their inspectors schedule around that date if people are interested in a stallion inspection. For CO, UT, AZ, NM, KS, WY, MT even NV, TX and OK people it might be a viable alternative to either CA, the NE or SE.
Anyway - I just thought I'd throw it out there so people can think about it this winter

If you are willing to host an inspection, fill out the forms and turn them in. After the candidates turn in their paperwork, sites will be chosen based on the number of horses in that area. Any chance you might want to do an annual meeting? We are constantly looking for sites around the country. This sounds like a good one!

Contact the office and see what they think. The weather may be a big hold back with the mountains and every thing. It was just a thought.

Earlier this year, I sent the ATA office a list of facilities here on the front range that would be suitable for hosting the ATA yearly meeting. These include the Stock Show Events Center and Douglas County Fairgrounds. Both are close to Denver and have heated indoor arenas and stableing and both are easily accessable from the Interstate and Denver International Airport.
It will be interesting to see if the board selects a site out here.

How about the new facility just North of Denver on I25. Forget the name but it sure does look nice for the road.
