We are going to a sporthorse in-hand clinic tomorrow at Michigan State University given by Hilda. We are very excited to have something really good happening in Michigan, even if we still have to drive 3 1/2 hours out of "the sticks" to get there!
That's great Ingrid! I hope you enjoy it and we want to hear all the details! I went to one in CA (at her place) over the summer and it was great! We all participated in a complete "mock" breed show. The whole thing lasted 2 days and I'd go again in a heartbeat!
This was a great clinic and Hilda is a fantastic clinician! I hope she comes back sometime.
We only wished we had taken horses down, but driving home through white-out conditions, roads closed from accidents, and overturned cars made me glad I wasn't towing a trailer!
Hilda made an interesting statement (actually one of many): She said there were way too many warmblood stallions, about 1 stallion for every 2 approved mares! I had no idea the ratio was that even!
She also mentioned that branding will be banned in Europe shortly for animal rights' reasons. I wondered what people will think about that....
Interesting comments. I agree with Hilda about having too many stallions. Without the brands, who will be able to tell what warmblood they are riding?!
Except for the Trakehner of course- they stand out in a crowd.
