I know this is early, but thought I'd start a thread to see who is planning on coming to the convention this fall.. Horses and their people!
I'll start. I should be bringing my two mares, Pirouette's Pasha and Sayyida(aka Xena), a xx stallion candidate and my little colt Magnus for some fun. Both mares will hopefully be pregnant too!!
Can't wait to see everyone there!

LOL - excited Sean??? (hey, want to help with anything??)
I will def be there - horses, Emma for sure, Tate for sure, Truman probably, maybe Tate's baby this year out of Lady, ... I think that is it.
Also - I was going to post this seperatly but since you opened it up....
For anyone that is bringing youngsters to the Convention. If you show your weanling or yearling in the Mare/Foal show on Thurs AND you present that same weanling or yearling for voluntary marks you will receive a $50 check the day of the inspection. Normally the mare/foal show entry is arond $25 and the voluntary marks are around $75, so you will get a 50% discount and each will only be $25!!!! I'm hoping that this will encourage people to bring their youngsters and enter the show as well as get marks on their babies. What better way to see what is being produced, what crosses well and how we are doing breeding wise??
Anyone in the area that I haven't already hit up for help - if you want to help out in any way shape or form let me know!!

The Convention is Nov 11 - 13 in Jacksonville, FL at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center (where I hosted the inspection in 2008). Great place and Jean has vowed to make this exhibition the best that the ATA has seen in a long time...

I am hoping to be there! I am definitely having two of my TB mares inspected this year just not sure where yet. Once the inspection schedule comes out and I find out a little more about my husband's schedule, and possibly try to wrangle people to help me (I can't manage two mares at one inspection by myself!) I will know more!

Hey, I will bump this thread. It is now less than 6 months away, so time to wake it up.
I am looking forward to get back to a meeting, having had to cancel my trips to the last two!
Here is a non-horsey but maybe interesting and maybe budget-sparing info:
Since I have to fly down to JAX ANYWAY, I am going to hop on a cruise ship. Living up here so close to the arctic, I don't need much of an excuse to extend a trip far south in November. Unfortunately, the timing worked better before the Board changed the dates for the meeting. As it is now, I am cutting out before the banquet on Saturday, so it is not quite perfect. I don't know if anyone else has interest (probably not any horse-bringers, except locals), and don't mean necessarily to take attendance from the banquet, but I found very good pricing for the November 13th sailing with Crown Cruise Vacations, which I connected with on the website cruisecompete.com.
Kelly Gulick negotiated such a fantastic rate for the Hyatt it is hard to beat. I have been running down rental car deals, however, as Jacksonville rentals look pretty spendy. So far the best I found from the JAX airport by a long shot is with Thrifty, using a corporate code I found on mousesavers.com (dedicated to Disney travel) and this is the info:
Use corporate code 004C005932 to get up to 50% off Thrifty rentals. This is an ongoing Corporate Code for Island Real Estate. The owner writes, "please share our Corporate Code with your readers if you would like. You don’t need to be one of our guests to use it." Thanks to Patty G for info.
I will continue to check on rentals periodically, but for now that is pretty good, short of using Priceline or Hotwire to book a car (where you don't know which company you will be working with).
Hopefully, with the usual requests for roomsharing and exchange of other good information, as many of us as possible can manage the trip to the meeting this year.

Thanks Ingrid (is your mom coming too or just you? it'll be great to see you again finally this year! )
Jacksonville is a great place btw - my family has lived there for eons and I went to college there and lived there myself several years. Everything is a bit of a drive but the city is fun and there is lots to do. For those coming in early or staying late and want to sight see let me know and I'll help you out. St Augustine is only 30 mins or so away, Gainesville is only an hour, Ocala just down the road from that, Orlando is about 2 hours away.... Beach is about 30 mins....
The Hyatt is nice and it is right ON the St John's river... For geeks like me here are some "odd facts" about the city - Jacksovnille is the largest city in the US (land mass size) and is around 800 sq miles. The St John's river is also one of the few rivers that flows south to north...
I'm really starting to get excited about this Convention!!!

Hey Anissa, sorry to not catch this sooner!
Mom and I will both be coming down. Lots to do in Jacksonville, it seems! Some neighbors of ours up here winter down there, as well, so it will be nice to get to see them for an evening or so while we are down there.

Just got the ok from the hubby to take up some of his leave (as long as he's not already deployed) to come! He'll even be joining me FINALLY! My first convention since the mid 90s... I'm very excited!
