Harry Houdini continues his winning ways. First after dressage, he had no time or jumping penalties in XC/Stadium and won the Beginner Novice Division of the Texas Event Derby on his dressage score of 32.5.
Event Derbys are super for greenies (riders and horses) b/c stadium and xc are combined in a single phase which seems to be less stressful for newbies. Links below show the Event Derby format for stadium/xc:
Harry's part-TK sister Zigana (Tzigane out of a TB/Shire mare) finished 3rd in the same division. Way to go kids, dad would be proud . . . especially as they're both 4yo's!

Thanks, Connie. Harry's rider (Kristen Wertz) had a TK as her 1st eventing horse - unfortunately, one of those that gave TK's a bad name. She swore she'd never have another but her student Marta (Ziggy's breeder/owner/rider) told her about Harry. Since Ziggy was pretty neat, Kristen called me, test-rode him and leased him the same day.
Now she's an avid enthusiast of "modern Trakehners" and equally important, she's well-networked with Area V eventers and she's won both outings this year on a Trakehner.
