I am very proud to relay to those many people who are very familiar with the German Trakehner stallion, INDUC ('94 Bundeschampion w/scores of 10's for rideability, trainability and movement & sired by the "Elite" German Trakehner stallion, MARDUC ((Dressage Index of 155)), and the sire of the outstanding young HAPPY HOUR whom we have here in the U.S., that according to the Trakehner Hefte, "INDUC now ranks #6 in Germany out of all Trakehner and TB stallions, with an outstanding Dressage Index of 146 (tying w/his half-brother, ANDUC). This is basically due to the fact that for the first time in Germany, the results of mare performance tests were included. The index of INDUC's daughters alone is 150, which is the second highest of all Trakehner stallions whose daughters were performance tested." (Hohenstein #1) Also very encouraging is that now a stallion's daughters are performance tested! This information appears in the January 2002 issue of the "Trakehner Hefte" magazine, and was confirmed w/them this morning.
To some, this may not be important, although it is wonderful news for the Trakehner breed as a whole. For those people who have bred or who will breed mares to HAPPY HOUR, this is definitely significant and exciting news. This was wonderful news from our partners. The voice mail message I listened to last night was absolutely bubbling with excitement from my partners and friends. Needless to say, they are VERY proud of Induc's accomplishments and so are we - he is only 11.

That is good news, Renee! I saw tape of Induc several years ago (it was made at his inspection) and was very impressed with him. He and Anduc are my favorites of the Marduc kids.
Out of curiosity, what has Induc been doing since his astounding early performance successes?

Hi: Thanks for your reply. It is indeed, exciting news. To answer your question about what Induc has been doing. Well, let's see, he's a very busy boy producing some superb performance horses in Europe. His one son is an Austrian Champion; there is an Induc daughter in Denmark who earns top placings on the the Young Rider's Team with a 15-year old girl; he has another approved son in Australia who earned approval marks of 9's; and several sons and daughters who are doing very well in Germany in both dressage and eventing. And there are quite a number of others, but I cannot keep track of them all.
Like so many horses who are naturally very talented and so very willing, many trainers/riders have a tendency to push and push them too much at a young age. To win 3-year old championships in Germany, as well as the Bundeschampionship is fantastic and it takes an outstanding horse to do so, BUT it can take its toll on a horse. Induc was ridden by Hans Jurgen Armbrust, one of the top riders of numerous Bundeschampions. He also trained with Kyra Kyrkland, as well as Uwe Sauer. He was pushed a lot at a young age and he achieved major accomplishments at a very young age. But, his owners started to see that he was just getting pushed too hard and that he was starting to become stiff and sore in his back, so they took him home to give him time to recoup from all of these major accomplishments. Like me with Happy Hour, they truly love Induc and really got very tired of the so-called trainers pushing Induc because he had (and still does) great talent, for their own glory - not keeping Induc's health and well-being their top priority. Unfortunately, this happens far too much, both here and in Europe. We experience the very same thing with Happy. He has immense talent, learns very easy and always gives 120%, so, the potential exists for a trainer to push him beyond or incorrectly. We have had 2 that have tried, and we pulled him away from both of them. Consistent, correct work and a good challenge are great for a horse, but IMO, there MUST always exist a "balance" in their life between training, breeding and competing. And always, a trainer should keep a horse's well-being his/her top priority.
Induc's owners and myself share the same philosophy. We're not willing to sacrifice our horse's well-being for glory. Proper training will always be the key, IMO. So, Induc is busy with the ladies and he is ridden by a lovely young gal who is an excellent rider. The real key is that he seems to be very happy, and he has and continues to consistently produce superb offspring with wonderful minds.
