I love this filly, I love this filly, I love this filly... she just gets better and better everyday.
I took her to her last show of the season this weekend and she was first in her class of 2007 fillies with a 77.5% and won the TK IBC - ok she was the only one but she scored a 77.5% again. High point TK.
The BEST part of this weekend was not the placings or the score though.... it was the COMMENTS from everyone. There were several large breeders at this show (Maryanna Haymon from Marydell farms, Annetta Coleman from High Point Hannovarians to name two) and I got positive comments from everyone. These are people that have been watching her grow up since she was a weanling and they all commented on how she is maturing into a lovely mare. The judge, Jos Severiens, told me that she gets better each time he sees her and that she is going to make an "excellent" performance mare.
She had a couple of "redhead moments" that made her melt down and by the time the Championships rolled around at the end of the day she was done so I scratched her. But by and large she was such a trooper. It was her first time showing by herself so first time alone on the trailer - no issues even when we got stuck in traffic on I 85 coming home for 2 hours.
She really did her daddy proud. That was the other funny thing - I had more than one person this weekend walk up to me and ask if she was by Oskar as she was the "spitting image" of him.
Alicia Freese (the show photog) will have photos up soon and I'll post the link. I'm just so proud of her I could burst. I can't wait till next year and I get to start her under saddle!!!!!

It is true... I love that filly so dang much that I can't help myself. The only horse that I own that has a "higher" spot on the farm is her dam. She just lights up my world.

Oh she is going to ride Kim!! I am ITCHING to get on her back.
My personal opinion (and remember I FREELLY admit to being compltly barn blind on this mare LOL) is that she is going to be a "tough" and "tactful" ride as she does NOT suffer the fool, but she is going to ROCK under saddle - esp in the dressage ring. Joe and I talk about her all the time and can't wait to see her hit the dressage ring. I think this filly has a very bright future ahead of her both in the ring and in the breeding shed.

Oh, and I'm going to add a plug for my good friend, Leslie Timmerman, and her TK/Arab x RAVE IMPRESSION. He is by Impressionist and out of an arab mare and was bred by Joe. He stands a solid 17 hh (the mare is 14.1 go figure LOL) and Leslie has had him since he was a weanling. I've watched her for the past 4 years (Rave is 5 this year) at the shows and she has taken him from weanling to showing Training Level at rated shows. This weekend he was leading the show for Training Level (as of this am, that might have changed by the end of today) and had scored a 70% for T1 on Sat. This was his first real year showing under saddle in dressage (he did Materialle last year and the year before). He is also leading the SE in the Half Arabs Hunter under Saddle divison and is 5th in the Nation for the same division!
It was a very good weekend for the TKs....

Thanks Bonnie!
OK, photos of her first class (and apparently me giving her a bath LOL) are up on the photog's website:
http://www.freseframephotography.com/
go to "view and purchase" then click on "horse shows" You will want the "dressage sport horse breeders show" You will need to type in your email addy to be able see the photos. Once on the page with the horses you click on the drop down tab and you'll see Emerald Fire. Sorry about the multitude of links but I can't do it directly (http://afreseklenk.photobiz.com/cart/photo_detail.cfm?photoID=228298 This is her link, but don't think it will work).

Wasn't me showing her.. it was another competitor actually LOL. I am not the most... blessed .... runner under the best of circumstances. I tend to trip and hold the horse back etc. Add to my general clumsiness that I cracked my tail bone about a month ago and there was NO way I was handeling her LOL. The tail bone is better (not completly healed but better) but because I've been leaning to one side so much and compensating for the tail bone my ribs on my left side (which were also injured from my fall) have really ached the last couple of weeks and it is hard to breathe.
But I did have a great time this weekend in the ring and out of it (I make a GREAT whip).

Thought I would add the link to Leslie's horse, Rave Impression, so you can see this good looking boy. I LOVE telling people that he is half arab - the look on their face is always priceless. Leslie and I finally found where the "arab" in him is - he raises his tail slightly under saddle LOL!
Link to his materialle class:

Her dressage rides have not been posted yet. Also waiting still for Emma's IBC class to be posted.

You would have to go there wouldn't you?? LOL
Preston has been at Sterling's learning to drive (he came home Sun). I went over to Sterling's one BEAUTIFUL Sun day to go for a ride. I ended up going on a trail ride with Wendy (Sterling's girlfriend). I have not rode since FEB.
Wendy asked if Preston has gone through water - I said yes, but just puddles, small streams etc. She asked if I wanted to ride through the water hazard? I said "sure!" Let me stop and say this is a true CDE water hazard (and may be deeper than normal, not sure, but certainly is large enough for a water hazard). It is over 30' long and over 15' wide. Several different access points (so you can do figure 8's in and out of it) with gentle slope down into the water. No drop offs where we were going. It is about 3' deep (I know this as you will see why). Wendy goes first, no problems. Preston starts in after her (when she is about to leave the water hazard). No issues, no hesitation at all whatsoever. He LEAPED into the water - guess he felt that it was a jump LOL. Wendy saw it and said it would have made a 4' oxer look small. From a walk. Unexpectedly. With HUGE bascule... I lost my stirrups (wasn't expecting it - not sure why LOL). The SECOND LEAP (of equal size) got me onto his side. The THIRD LEAP (again of the same caliber) launched me into the water. Completly. I know the water is that deep because when I was on my knees trying to catch my breath the water was almost to my waist. I think I might have hit the saddle after the first leap and cracked my tail bone. I can't imagine that it was the water and there aren't rocks or sticks in it...
Preston galloped out of the water, and about 100 yds up the field a bit, then circled back and galloped back to the edge of the water hazard with a look of "what the heck are you doing down there?" I think he thought it was a great game - he certainly wasn't worried about the water, he was "just making it interesting" as my friend Michelle said. I will say that he was EXTRA careful going home - he knew mom was hurt and would barely walk.

Sure, we'll go with that version LOL. He is such a card. He was just trying to have fun - and he LOVES to jump and LOVES new things so I'm sure it was just "look at the big water jump!!" Sad part is that if I had been expecting it and had stuck with him (which clearly he thought I was supposed to do LOL) it would have been a blast to ride.
