Tzigane going to Germany
« on: November 08, 2009, 05:24:35 PM »

I must of beat Kim to the computer. I get to be the first on the internet to congratulate her and Taz  on the wonderful news that he will be leaving for Germany to bring his presence of his breeding ability. He will be there for 4 years (to my understanding) What a GREAT honor for this USA bred stallion. Way To Go!!!

I thought Kim had dismissed that as a rumor? Oh well, if it's true it's a great honor, and I hope he leaves after I've bred my mare to him!

Thanks, Connie.  I'm incredibly proud of him and was thrilled when I received confirmation of his Verband approval.  He leaves for quarantine Tuesday, and s/b in Germany 3rd week in December.  (Fiona, glad we got things worked out.  Wink

Practicing his German profile!

It is wonderful news Kim - for you, for the horse, for the breeders of NA, and for Taz's breeder (Zenda).  It was wonderful to get the announcement Sat night.   Grin

Who will compete him?

Thanks all.  I can't disclose that info. yet. I sense protocol probably dictates the Verband will include this info. when they do the formal announcement in Germany (website or Der Trakhener; not sure which).  Plus, I'm still trying to work thru all criteria.  He (and maybe me as owner) likely needs to join the German equivalent of the USEF/USHJA, etc.)

However, the goal is to have him prepped for the Handorf stallion show in February and Helmut is flying over to ride him in that exhibition.

So Taz arrived @ quarantine station today around 2pm.  He settled in perfectly (he's an old hand @ traveling) and is quite happy with his "babysitter", a grey Draft-X gelding.  Those of you who know him well are laughing, I know.  He's always had "a BIG thing" for greys.   Roll Eyes

This facility has a FN-certified Beireiter who'll ride him 5x per week so he maintains condition during his stay.   She just called to tell me she's been in his stall 'cuddling' him all afternoon (Helmut would be horrified) and is happy to have a beautiful Trakehner after their last stallion . . . an old-style Hanoverian.  Tongue

Blue Diamond sent photos of Taz exploring his new digs.  He was a good boy & politely looked @ their facilities, posed for a few photos but was happy to get back to his stall and breakfast.

Britta (Beireiter) sent photos of her first ride w/Taz today.   It's been a while since I've seen anyone but Helmut on him, but he looks very relaxed and Britta said it was a super ride.

Taz seems to be comfortable in OH. He's about 2 hours from my place, think he is close the our ATA home base! Wonder if they sell the "Double Antler" (meaning two full sets, ATA/Verband) saddle pad. It would nice to see in Germany  Grin

I love that he has a big "gray" buddy Wink

Kim, will you be going?  That would be really fun to see.  Flights in February are pretty cheap!

Yes, I'll definitely be there.  You're right about flights being cheaper after 1st of year.  Plus, Jet Blue and Lufthansa just signed an agreement and are promoting special offers for travel between November 22nd and February 28, 2010!

Kim, my biggest congrats to you, Jimmy, Helmut, Zenda, not to forget Mike and the grooms, and of course The Tazman, for coming this far!! This was years of work, and many hours and more money spend on the way to promote a Trakehner sporthorse.

I will be in Handorf as well, and I think we'll have this nice little Taz party going, no matter what. He is not an unknown in Germany anymore, thanks to some good sport results and the internet, and people are already asking about him, which is great!! Lea Ann, you may be interested that the very first mare that was officially "booked" a few weeks ago is a Schiffon daughter in Holstein!

Fingers crossed now for an uneventful quarantine, and a save flight over the pond. I know his new German keepers will talk about this December 2009 more for the horse than christmas!!

As Maren said, the first goal is getting him thru quarantine and the flight safely.  Once in Germany, his new "German Keepers" www.gestuet-majenfelderhof.de in Schleswig-Holstein will prepare him for the Handorf stallion show where he'll make his "Euro debut" under long-time partner Helmut Schrant.

The long-term plan is to continue his performance career as long as he is sound and happy in his work and I'm thrilled he'll be in the capable hands of Steffi Herken-Wendt.

I have to make it to Blue Diamond before he leaves and/or take pics of him leaving us in the USA.  I am so excited for the offspring he will produce and so lucky to ride one of his own. Kisses to you Taz.  Kiss
