Performance Matters!

So I'm stepping on a plane tomorrow for TN and don't know how many stallions are coming for approval. I've heard up to 5, but no idea which ones. Anyone here know?

Word has it that 5 stallions will be presented.
Lord Cosmo (Pinto) by Cosmopolit (Pinto) o/o Lida by Enrico Caruso owned by Tylord Farm will be there. I also heard that David Beattie's bringing 2 of his boys, but not sure who. As far as the other 2 colts, I have no clue.

I would love to see Lord Cosmo approved. It was such a devastating blow when Cosmopolit died, for the breed as well as for Tylord Farm. My fingers are crossed.

Hey all! I am not at the meeting (got the flu...) but did just get a text from Heather Buttrum... FOUR colts approved!
One by Blitz und Donner, one by Heops, the Cosmopolit colt, and Imager (not sure of the breeding).
Congratulations to all of the owners, breeders, and anyone else in the picture for the four "new" stallions!

Imager is by Hailo *Pg*E* and out of Inquisitive by Maritini *Pg*E*. VERY nice horse - in terms of temperament, training, ridability, etc. WONDERFUL walk. So glad for his owner/rider that he got approved. And he would be FULLY approved (or shiould be) not just provisiionally as he is already successfully competing at I1 and is elig for a Ps designation himself.
Ricarda - Bruce Griffin took over the reins on the Leo colt.
I just got home and am still recovering from last night's festivities. It was great to see everyone (new and old) and it was wonderful to see so many of the founding members there!

Ricarda, I'm sorry that Sarah, the owner of Tabiano was treated this way. I think you should encourage her to write a letter to the person you mentioned in your post and express her thoughts about this.

Having had 1 stallion approved and 1 not approved, I found the process to be both professional and fair all the way around. In my opinion and experience, and indeed the experience of those I have talked to, the inspectors genuinely feel for those members who put the time, effort and money into the approval process and walk away disappointed. I definitely don't envy the inspectors who have to make the call on approval and then deal with the disrespect of badmouthing by disappointed people. In fact, I would say posts like this on public forums are highly unprofessional and unethical.

Like Heather, I've had one approved, one not approved... I know the crushing disappointment that comes with a stallion that is not approved - even when you think he might not be. I was not around when the one colt's owners spoke to Brad, but I did speak to Brad later that day and he was kind of getting bombarded by several people and was possibly frustrated when they spoke to him. Also, always keep in mind that when one is in certain frames of mind/temperament things can be misunderstood, or taken the wrong way. A simple statement that might be heard one way on a "normal" day can be completly misconstrued as being "arrogant" on a bad day.
When Preston was not approved, I waited until much later in the evening and went to speak to Brad. I thanked him for his time and then asked about my colt. I had an honest and thoughtful answer and he was very professional and kind. But if I had gone up right after it might have been a different story - I was in a different emotional state. Just food for thought.
There are always those that come away from all inspections unhappy - frankly I wouldn't want that job! As a side note, I don't believe Brad was one of the voting members on the committe for the stallions.
And there is also a lot of "second hand news" on this... Anything that is not said directly by the person involved directly is gossip, and I find that we (as horse people) do by far enough gossip that it does not need to be perpetuated.

Congratulations, again, to the owners of the newly approved stallions. I am amazed that four out of five stallions presented were approved. I have seen inspections with none approved, and once saw five with only one approved. Four out of five is tremendous, and I think it shows excellent preparation and that the owners did a very good job of evaluating their colts before they brought them.

I am posting this by way of explanation. If the posts above about professionalism, etc. seem out of place, it is because two of the posts in that "conversation" have been deleted, by me, as the forum administrator and owner.
Unsupported, defamatory comments regarding individuals, businesses, the ATA, or other breed organizations should not be posted on this forum, or anywhere else. I do not enjoy censoring posts here and inappropriate posts have rarely been a problem in all the years this forum has been in operation.
Most people, it seems, understand what is appropriate, and I sincerely thank the forum membership at large who help to keep this forum as a medium for constructive conversation.
If you, as a forum member, are unable to tell whether your posts cross the line, please err on the side of discretion and don't post.
