Ada GS foaled a handsome colt by the TB stallion Bogart's Cat on Tuesday AM. Pics are from when he was a day old:

My 5 YO daughter named him. I think the hispanic name is quite comincal, but she said "Mom, it's a GOOD name!!"...so it stays.

Congratulations! He is very cute. Do you think he'll be a jumper like mama's bloodlines would suggest?
Do you own the stallion?

I am hoping jumper or eventer. I want to get some video of him this weekend, before I have my OWN "foal" (I am due in 2 weeks) because I certainly won't be getting anything of him for a few weeks after that!
I actually owned the stallion last year when the mare was (unintentionally) bred. She had been bred to a Trakehner earlier in the season, but apparently had aborted. I saw Bogie cover her ONCE, and thought perhaps it was a fluke, but it was most certainly not. It was not my intention to have the boys with access to the mares last season. However, my mom was diagnosed in July with lung cancer, which had spread to her brain, and she became very ill in late October. Being a momma's girl, I spent a considerable amount of time away from the farm last fall/winter. Much of the daily care of the herd was left up to the men who boarded at the farm we were leasing. They fed them, and watered them, and fixed fencing when it was down, and that's about it. I am grateful for that, though, because it was a cold winter. I was putting 1000 miles each week on my car driving to spend some overnights with my mom, working days, and spending a few minutes with my kids when I could, and checking on the horses. It was a lot of going going going. We put mom in a nuring (rehabilitation) home in December for a few weeks after she had another (fruitless) surgery to remove a brain tumor, brought her home January 5th, and I stayed with her until she passed on the 19th. After the services and such I returned home only to find a "For Sale" sign up at the farm. I decided to reduce to "just" my Trakehner mares and babies, and I sold/rehomed all of my thoroughbreds. It was a stupid move, but I was fairly certain I'd not find a "stallion friendly" facility to lease. We are not in a position to purchase a large facility, and I NEED a large facility! LOL!
Fortunately, I DID find a very nice place, and we are on a lifetime "ag" lease until we are able to afford to build or buy what we want in the next couple of years. Unfortunately, I had already accepted a contract on the thoroughbred stallions and mares, and even though I offered to refund the deposit, the buyer declined. (She ended up selling off all of them except one, but that's a whole 'nuther story, and one that really almost ruined my faith in "horse people").
So, anyway, this colt will be registered, gelded, and we'll go from there. I think he's very nice, and I think Ada is a very nice producer. She has one approved stallion son, Arapaho, and eventually my goal is to bring her my 2007 colt out of her to inspections. He is my big puppydog baby....even my husband adores that colt. She's a good, good mare and I'm glad to have her.

Congratulations on the little one(s). He is really sweet looking! I am sorry about the conditions of his creation and your loss. He is lovely and seems like a ray a sunshine out of a dark time. Nice name too and keep up with the pictures.

VERY nice colt Joie. I saw the note about dad winning $107k @ the track; what are his bloodlines?

He is a really nice horse. Not overly big...about 15.3hh...but he is built like a truck, and he has the best temperament. He was the easiest horse I've ever retrained, actually. He's in Louisiana now, and it's a long, heartbreaking story.
The other stallion I had in and sold was actually, IMO, even nicer as far as sporthorse-type. He made over $200K, was 16.2hh, and just gorgeous with fabulous movement. I actually ended up facilitating the sale to buy him "back" from the new owner through a third party who now owns him. As I said...long story, and filled with heartache.
