Is anyone going to the Breeder's Tour (including the main stud in Graditz) prior to NMS?
An outstanding lineup of stops @ famous studs in Central & East Germany w/fascinating lectures thrown in:
Sunday, October 18th 04.00 PM – Welcome at and visit of Gestüt Hörstein, Alzenau, Germany. Stallion presentation, young stock presentation, introduction to the farm’s very successful breeding program utilizing TB and AA blood.
Lecture: The historical impact of TB and AA blood for the Development of the Trakehner Sport Horse. By Erhard Schulte Overnight in Alzenau.
• Monday, October 19th 09.00 AM – Trip to Gestüt am Kirschberg, Zehren with a visit of the stud farm with appr. 50 Trakehners and the stallions Handryk and Osharin’s Peron.
Lecture: East Germany’s Trakehner Mare Families – genetic resource and impact in sport horse breeding. By Maren Engelhardt Then continue to Torgau in Saxonia where the Main Stud Graditz is located. Overnight in Torgau.
• Tuesday, October 20th 09.00 AM – Tour the Graditz stud farm, one of Germany’s oldest (founded in 1686). It is not only the home of an outstanding band of Trakehner horses, but also of one of the best Thoroughbred herds in Europe.
12.00 PM – Trip to Güstrow in Mecklenburg/Pommerania. Here, Gestüt Ganschow is located, which was established in 1969 and shortly before the end of the cold war, was home to some 670 warmblood horses with a Trakehner herd of over 100 horses. Today, Ganschow foals out about 70 foals per year and is a driving force for the Mecklenburg warmblood breed with heavy influence of Trakehner blood.

• Wednesday, October 21st 08.00 AM – Trip to Schleswig-Holstein with tours of Gestüt Tasdorf and Gestüt Majenfelderhof. 06.00 PM – Reception at the Trakehner Verband headquarters in Neumünster.
