I love Trakehners!

We took our first long trip with 3 month old Velluto and his mom Pr. St. Viva Vanessa this weekend to Dressage at Lexington. Mom and baby took most everything in stride although Velluto (aka Louie) was a bit overwhelmed with all of the other horses in the arena with him. Viva Vanessa was a perfect saint.
The result was that Velluto won the Colts/Geldings of 2009 class with a 75.6%! over 6 other entries We are so excited, I just had to come home and finally figure out my video editing software and how to post on YouTube. Here it is:

Congratulations to you and, of course, to Schiffon, PR St Viva Vanessa, and Velluto. What a boy Viva Vanessa and Schiffon turned out! I hope everyone there realized he was a Trakehner.

I really wish they'd show foals of the current year loose @ their dam's side like in Germany. SO much easier to tell how they really move.

Thanks everyone. Velluto was definately listed as a Trakehner in the program.
He didn't show half of the movement that he is capable of - I wish they would show them loose as well. Anyone have connections in the DSHB world to be able to lobby for a rule change?

Big Congrats Lea Ann!! Even though he may not been able to show off, what I really liked in this video was the suppleness he shows - especially at the walk (take a look at his tail from the back). Best of luck with him!!

Lea Ann - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Those breed classes are one of the highlights of this show - everyone enjoys them. This is a great accomplishment for you - just going to a show to get a baby exposed to busy surrounding is reason enough, but the score and win is icing on the cake! For those of you that don't know, this show is HUGE - 400 - 500 horses with 8 rings going. For a baby and mare to handle themselves with grace and style among this mayhem, not to mention the stallions, is testament.
Great job Lea Ann - I really wish I had been there to hear this announcement and scream and holler for you!!! Well deserved!!!
