A change in course specifications for Open Jumpers at FEI levels has re-classified former Level 8 (1.40M or 4'7") classes to Open Jumpers 1.45M (4'9").
While 2" doesn't seem like much, when you get to these heights, the amount of strength required to do a 1.45M course vs. one @ 1.40M is significant.
So Taz's first show of the season had an additional added element courtesy of the USHJA.  I'm thrilled to say he handled it like a pro, placing 2nd in the $1,500 1.45M Open Jumper class - his first ever attempt @ a course this size. Will add photos when they're available. Good boy Taz, an extra carrot for you!

That is FANTASTIC!!! Congratulations, Kim! I am not surprised that Taz is moving up the levels and doing so well - he is made for performance!!! Some of these pure performance horses do so much better at the bigger stuff than they do with the lower levels. That's why its important for me to wait it out to see what happens beyond training/novice/beginner and to see who rises to the top. Well done!!!

Thanks Stace. Here's photo #2 from Welcome Stakes @ same show (the extra 2" @ 1.45M took so much out of him, he had an uncharacteristic 4 rails and did not place in this class - has to build up his stamina before we try 2days in a row @ this height).
