Prelude by Mozart X A Night at the Opera
« on: June 16, 2009, 09:52:26 AM »

At 12:31 this AM my 22 year old Trakehner mare A Night at the Opera (Oprah) delivered a gorgeous, sweet, adorable Trakehner filly by Prelude by Mozart. Water broke at 12:23 AM, filly was out 8 minutes later, up within 15 minutes, and ambling about the stall on her own before I had the stall stripped and rebedded and mom was even up! She is a super cute dark bay, no white, except for MAYBE one hoof and a little coronet band. She is chatty and was talking to me the whole time. She had pooped, nursed, and Oprah had passed the afterbirth well within an hour. Hopefully, everything will continue on this easy! That old mare certainly is a gem of a mare! This is her FIRST purebred foal, ever, and boy was she worth the wait!!! I am smitten already, and she's going to be spoiled, spolied, spoiled. My poor husband already realizes that she's a keeper, and there will be no weanling sales this year unless Hallie has a colt. Smiley

Here's a pic, and I'm on my way to let them out for a few hours and get some more pics.

Congratulations!!! Your filly looks very elegant. Who is on the Dam side? It is so wonderful when everything happens so fast and so right Grin

Yes, congratualtions on your lovely filly!  Glad all went well  for both your mare and filly. Can't wait to see her unfold over the next few days.

Does she have a name yet?

Her name is "Aria". She's a wee little adorable thing...and VERY feminine:

She is adorable; no wonder you are saying she is a keeper.  Looks like she will have very good conformation.  I'm happy for you.

Congratulations on a lovely filly!  Super long legs on this girl!  What's mom's breeding?

Congratulations on a lovely filly!  Super long legs on this girl!  What's mom's breeding?

Mom is by Insterfurst (Enrico Caruso x Insterschwalbe II) and out of Alma Maid (Mazagran x Amadea). She is a wonderful old girl, and I am so lucky to have ALL of my girls.

The filly isn't really big, but she is leggy, and so feminine. The mare is only about 15.2hh or so, maybe shorter even. She is as wide as she is tall, though! I love the shorter, fat, little mares.  Grin

I've updated Aria's page with new pictures from yesterday...I can't believe the difference in just one week! It is amazing to watch!

She certainly is a special filly, and she has me wrapped around her little hoofies.

Aria had her three week birthday Tuesday. Here are some pics of the little piglet from today:

They were ALL muddy messes today after a heavy rain this AM, but that filly was so adorable being naughty and playing in the "big" pasture for the first time. And, she can JUMP! She went over the creek after momma and back again.

Very nice filly.  And she s a good example of the "3" theory.  Its easy to see what she will look like as an adult and 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years.

Beautiful filly!  Looks like she'll have a good engine in those hindquarters.

I'm no expert, but isn't the Inster family known for its jumping ability?
