I saw Gale Monday at an ISR/Oldenburg inspection and saw some adorable pics of Julia at home and doing well!
Gale was also very happy because she had a beautiful Balladin d'Oc colt (out of TB mare) name Blitzen receive premium at that inspection. This is in addition to the top premium she already posted about the week before. Gale is seeing some excellent success as a breeder and I congratulate her for that!
Gale and I were comparing notes because my yearling filly Scharlotte by Schiffon *Ps* out of Wasilida (Woronow-Donnerhall-Feiner Stern) was at the inspection and received her O crown brand. This is a big deal because this filly was a dummy, spent about 4 weeks in the hospital, including 2 weeks on IV nutrition and IV antibiotics, got an infection in her left foreleg cannon bone growth plate and in the fetlock joint. This caused severe pain so she spent the first 4 months of her life standing only on her right front leg which caused a major deformity despite trying to keep a glue on shoe on her. Scharlotte eventually had a steel plate installed to fuse her left fetlock joint. She is now pain free, runs around like crazy with amazingly normal movement considering how her front legs haven't grown as much as normal and are really crooked (was one of the better moving yearlings at the inspection, but I'm biased), and is a smart, sweet, but opinionated little girl. Christian Schacht, the inspector from Germany (whose family has raised Trakehners for years), gave us compliments about giving this nice horse a chance and that he looks forward to seeing some beautiful babies from her in the future.

That is awesome and she looks wonderful.
Yes, the ones you have to "fight" for tend to "suck your heart away" - and rightly so! Congratulations!!!

What a lovely filly! Congratulations on getting her through everything and home. And it is so true--the ones that we've worried over and fought to keep going are the ones that capture our hearts.
