After four colts this year, we were proud to welcome a big filly from Aleteur by Inspekteur this morning.  Dad is Baladin D'Oc a French Anglo/Arab.  Allie was scheduled to be bred to a Trakehner stallion, but she was ovulating at the vet school in VA while the equitainer sat at the Fed-Ex terminal in Atlanta on a Saturday!!! Given her age and the lateness of the season, it was late August (she was actually expected to foal July 21), we jumped the breed line.....  Pictures will follow.

I think I'd have done the same thing.  Late August breeding-yuk, no time to do it after that!  Waiting for pics.

Congrats!  I've looked at Baladin several times for my mares and would love to use him!  A lady here in Arizona had a Baladin offspring and he was awesome!  That's great that you had a filly ;-)

Since sire is AA, won't this filly qualify as at least PSB?

SOO glad to hear of this filly's safe arrival.  You deserve it!

Bally is fully 100-day tested, with a score of > 120 if memory serves.  I wonder if one could even apply to the ATA for full OSB eligibility of this filly.

Please send good thoughts to Julia (Bon Appetit) and her devoted dam Aleteur.  She is currently at Virginia Tech hospitalized.  Her prematurity has created some difficulties
with her tarsi and carpi and the management became too much to keep her at home for a while.  She is such a smart
little girl fighting her best to stay and giving us all bunches of
bruises along the way.  Her silly chestnut face has already captured my heart......just don't want her to break it too soon.  Thanks for listening.

Julia, the little premie weighed in at 140 pounds today at the vet school.  No wonder her little unossified joints are having trouble.  She got fitted for her little Dyna-splint and seems to be tolerating it well.  She has impressed everyone with her strength and determination and her great PMS look for such a young girl.....keep them laughing I guess.  Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers.

You hang in there!  Sometimes life sends us challenges, and the result is so gooooood!  She may be a keeper, and give you years of happy moments!

Very true!  Three years ago, my mare dropped a dysmature filly who couldn't get up without help for 32 hours.  She reminded me why I always did foal watch.  Today, that same filly is beautiful and sassy, and, naughty as she is, a delight to have.  Kiss

Julia is still hospitalized.  She improves in one regard and then another joint becomes involved.  She now has two dyna-splints, two tension bands and is on a convuluted schedule for wrapping and splint application.  I keep questioning how far should we keep going....Then last Thursday everything was taken off for the first time for resizing and you know what the little filly did., she proceeded to buck her way around the room, so I guess she plans to not pull any punches and keep trying.   (I can't get the photo to attach it is too big I guess.)  Smart, smart girl.  Thanks for all your support I really appreciate it.  Gale

Bon Appetit weighed in on her one month  check up at 198, not bad for a hospitalized premie.  She continues to make improvement and the vets and students have finally come to appreciate how smart and sensitive she is.  Think they might have some new appreciation for why these Trakehners wrap around our hearts.  Hopefully she will be able to be released in about 10 days.  Fortunately my other half hasn't thought to ask what the bill is.  I did tell him I was thinking about selling my antique baby grand piano.  If it comes down to it, would be more than a fair trade.  Music in the house for music in the field...

She has a lot of spunk and a "I want to live" attitude.  I have a feeling she's going to be something special once she gets through this little bump in the road.

Jingles from your neighbor to the North!
That picture of her kicking with her top lip stuck out reminds me of my boy. It is a concentration thing.
Best wishes for the little girl!!
