I love Trakehners!

I am VERY excited to announce that Tate is going to be in Canada at King's Windy Fields with Michael Loew as of the first of next week!!!
I've been keeping this under wraps till I got all the paperwork finished. Tate is still in my name - he is still my horse, but he will be going to Cananda to fullfill some of his obligations at stud up there (easier to ship the horse than the semen lol) as well as to be started under saddle and start showing under saddle.
I'm excited as this will be a great opportunity for Tate - he will be readily accessible for both the US and the Canandian Trakehner mare owners, and it will increase his visiblity. Plus it will make my life easier down here with my job.
For the time being everything is still going through me to book breedings and answer questions etc.
Mike is coming down tonight to get him and he and I will be hauling Tate up this weekend - we expect to cross the border Sun night or Monday am.

Anissa, I can hear the excitement in your voice. A whole new adventure for your boy. I know the feeling! Good luck and have a safe trip.

Thanks Bonnie! You are right I AM very excited. It will be sad not to have him in my back yard and I'll miss having his nightly "cuddle" sessions but this will be so much better for him.
Not just the mare opportunties but also the riding/training opportunities. It opens up a whole new world for him.
I know you know how it is bittersweet though. One of my coworkers (who knows nothing about horses) was shocked when I said that I was taking him to Canada this weekend - "you are taking your BABY to CANADA??!!" then wanted to know if I was coming back LOL.

Thanks Connie -That is why I'm going to so we can swap off driving and we can just press straight through. Will be a LONG day but will be better in the long run I think. If something changes though I may contact you! I have another friend in the Lebanon area and of course Mike knows people in the NY area etc ... There is the good thing about the TK nation, we are pretty tight knit I'm sure we can find someone to take us in if we need help!
We tried to get a professional hauler but most had already finished the runs from FL to CA - and we dind't want to use someone we didn't know!

Anissa, I am happy for you if a little shocked. This news coming out of the blue so to speak. If this a great opportunity for Tate then I'm all for it. I want nothing but the best for you and your horses.

Thanks Heather - I think it will be a win win for everyone concerned.
Alicia - anytime just call first of course (not my barn to say "come on down" LOL). He'll be there for a while. I have no immediate plans to bring him back down to FL unless it is to show.
Barb - I know it seems like a shock, but really this has been in the works for a few months now. We've been talking about it since March. And it will be a good thing I do believe.

Well we have made it half way up to Canada. We got a late start so we are just now to North Carolina. Going to be a long night but Tate is handling it like a seasone veteran.

How did Tate make the trip and how did he settle into his new home away from home? How long are you going to keep him there? New pictures, please. Oh, and how did the humans make the trip?
