Kim from Twin Gates has been gracious enough to work with me and allow me to start the process of purchasing her gorgeous filly, Sayyida aka Xena!
She's a beautiful full sister to Sam the Man! She is by Tzigane and out of PrSt Schone Symphonie, by Polarpunkt!
I am so excited about her I can't even tell you! Hopefully she will be approved as a Model mare either in August or November! Here are a few pictures in case you haven't seen them yet...By the way, if you ever have the opportunity to do any business with Kim Hunter from Twin Gates, do it! She's incredible and a real delight to work with!

Performance Matters!
|
Sean, I couldn't be happier for Xena! She was bred for performance, and to go to a home where she'll be given the opportunity for a competition career prior before becoming a broodmare is all I ever wanted for her.

What great news, Sean! Xena is amazing. Both parents are two of my favorites.. Sym and Taz are individually fantastic, but the combination is awesome. Xena would be a great addition to your blooming herd.. you don't mess around, do you? Great bloodlines! And Kim is wonderful. You wont find a more professional, passionate breeder than Kim - and with her, what you see is what you get - you can rely on every single thing she tells you. I am proud to call her my friend and sister in trakehnerdom! However, the blood of Xena's parents is undeniable. I believe Tzigane is one of the best stallions we have here in the US, and in the world. If you have not spent time with him, you should make the time - he will knock your socks off. I have yet to find a stallion that stirred my soul like Tzigane in person.. And Symphonie's quality is hard to come by, especially here in the US - I know it took some doing to get that girl over here, but no surprise Kim made it happen.
Best wishes for your new addition! I am green with happy envy!
If you only knew what it took for kim to get sym, and to compete taz to the point he is now, and then to see the outcome of the cross (Sam), then once again (Xena), (and recently again - Kim, name yet?) there is no question this cross is golden. I would give my eye teeth for that filly. Good luck! VERY nice 2nd horse.. you are well on your way to a great herd of mares.
Do you plan to compete them, or breed, or both? Both your new mare(s) are so exciting blood-wise, I personally hope to see them compete, then have lots of babies! Your new farm is very exciting, and you obviously have a great eye and enthusiasm for the breed, and good performance blood. I can't wait to see how it all turns out in the years to come.. Best Wishes, Lara

Thanks so much for the kind and encouraging words!
I haven't had a chance to see Taz in person yet, but I hope to sometime soon!
Kim had plans in place for Xena to be brought along by Bruce at GSH before her inspection, so we are sticking with that plan. After that the plan is to keep her moving with basic dressage training, most likely at Darren's, and then have him bring her along another year after that to try and make a move to eventing. We'll see where her talents lie(I'm sure they are broad, but we'll see what she likes best!) My hope is to have her compete and make her mark in the eventing world and then move on to having beautiful babies!
My other girl Pirouette is going to have her Zauberuff baby next year and then she'll begin training to compete again. I'd like to have Darren work her up to through the levels as an eventer until I'm ready to ride competitively again sometime in a couple of years.
So, long story short, both mares will have plenty of opportunity to become the best performance horses they can be and then have fabulous babies!
I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone that is coming at the convention, and hopefully I'll make it to Germany this coming year for the sales and see some of you there!
Currently I'm in St. Petersburg, FL and have Pirouette with me. I'm looking for a farm in the area now so I actually have a place to keep all the horses I know I'll be picking up in the coming years!

Well, since I'm Symphonie's original aunt I guess I'm family
Congratulations Sean, and best of luck with Xena in the future!! I assume Kim has already gone into detail of the mare family here, but I wanted to just briefly point out some really neat things about it:
Sym's dam Schöner Tag (Beautiful Day) was named Elite in Germany this year and here she is with Symphonie as a foal at her side:

Schöner Tag had 12 foals in her career at Gestüt Schralling (that's the home of Olympian Peron TSF and others). Among these 12 were:
State, Verband Premium and Elite mare Schöner Morgen by EH Arogno. She founded a very string family of her own that has produced outstanding show mares and competition horses in Germany. The 5th generation is hitting the ground this year!!
Schalk by Schwertträger, a CIC** eventer in Germany
State premium mare Schöne Stunde by Herbstruf (Beautiful Hour) who was the champion of her MPT and dam of the approved Shooting Star
Premium mare Schöne Welt by Hockey (Beautiful World)
Scheward by Hockey, who is showing at S level in dressage
Showtime by Polarpunkt, full brother to Symphonie, approved stallion in Germany and major player up to Inter I dressage
Symphonie
Premium mare Schönheit II (Beauty) by Schwadroneur, who is replacing her famous dam at Schralling Stud.
This is only the immediate family!! You can read a lot about the falling dam line on Symphonie's website .
Congratulations again, Sean and Kim!!!!

Congratulations, Sean, and welcome back to horses - so glad you chose Trakehners! Really glad to hear you have plans to train and compete your girls. They should do very well in competition - the performance breeding plus the professional training is going to give you some great performance horses. Plus, it will help you decide what to do regarding breeding, if you decide to breed in the future. You'll have a better idea of their strengths and what you'd like to see improved. We're all cheering you on!!! You are going to have such a great time - keep us posted! Congratulations again - excellent and very schooled choices!!!

The more I see and get reminded of Xena's background and pedigree, the more excited I get!
I now just need to sell my house and find a bigger property because I am sure that now that I have two great mares, and a foal on the way I won't be able to stop myself there!
Oh, and as a shameless plug, if anyone on the board is looking for a new financial advisor after the last year, I'd love to talk with you and see if there is anything I can do for you! (With all this horse business and a wedding coming up in August I could stand to take on a few new clients!

Great news Sean, you are planning the best possible future for these horses, with the best possible training for traks - kudos to you! I am so excited to see how things go. Having them with Bruce and Darren will be so exciting, not to mention beneficial in every way, and as Kumi pointed out, to find out just how you want to breed them in the coming years after discovering their strengths, weaknesses, etc. Stay the course!
Have you met Sym yet, and your new filly in person? I have not met Xena, but Sym is stunning, and such a sweet mare. I don't know if I've met a better mare here in the US.
Please email me at lara@gryphonfarm.com - I would love to chat with you and keep in touch about their plans, timing, etc - so exciting!
Congrats again - for just getting back into things trakehner, you have certainly gotten off to a roaring start.. All the best to you and your girls - and your upcoming wedding/marriage! Is your fiance involved in horses and excited about this? Does she ride?
Are you looking in your current area for a farm, staying in Florida? Will you be at the convention this year? Look forward to meeting you..
Congrats to you, too, Kim - what a great home and plan for Xena, you couldn't ask for more.. it's so tough as breeders to find homes to compete our girls, there are so few people willing to go for it, and Sean seems to be another gem. Can't wait for us all to get together and chat in person!

Trakehners rule
|
Sean, Welcome to trakehners and congrats on your purchase of Xena. Kim is a dear friend to me but even more so she does so much for the breed. I have bred my mare Sommer Schwalbe to Taz twice and the results are exceptional. I have a 5 year old gelding who had already proven himself in the dressage ring and is now learning to jump. Also have an up and coming 2 year old mare who will eventually start under saddle. I don't have a picture of the gelding handy but am off to post pics of the 2 year old and update all the photos of my foals from this year. I spent several years producing only boys but the last 3 years have been all girls. So glad you have joined us and look forward to meeting you at the annual convention
