The performance test for the ATA needs to be the same as the other German registeries who operate in NA.

I breed to sell, and I outcrossed my imported mare, Lucy Mae, with an eye to marketability. I was going to breed her eventually to a Trakehner in hopes of a filly to keep her bloodlines but she tore with her last delivery, a bad dysotica, and is no longer breeding sound. She has two sons, a Pablo and a Routinier.

Look at the sale prices in the forums where they are divided by registry. Trakehners are listed for lower prices.  And that was before the economy tanked.

I suspect the minimal requirement for full approval is a factor in their standing in the US.  Just my opinion, and a controversial one.

The ATA approval process makes it that much more impt that a stallion approved in the USA go on to have a competititive career.
