Trakehners rule

filly #4 arrived yesterday. She is out of my homebred TB mare. June's Aly (Aliah) is out of my first horse June's Graduate and was foaled my Juney at the age of 25. Her sire is my TB stallion Alybenbo (Alydar x Prodice) who is still the big cheese around the farm. This is a leggy girl and notice the chest, will she fill that in? Open to 'S' name suggestions as right now she doesn't have one

This is very hard and I am crying as I type. Colorado has been weird this year as weather goes and we got hit by a storm burst or tornado or who knows what two weeks ago. My husband could not leave the house until it subsided. There where 70+ mph winds and hail the size of golf balls. Sometime during the storm little Sera broke her leg and we had to put her down. We are both devestated. I fell in love with this little girl the moment she hit the ground and am heart broken. I know there is nothing to say or do but sometimes just sharing helps. This choice to be with horses, so much happiness, so much heartache. I know, you all know how I feel.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet filly. Even when we try our best to keep them safe, things will happen beyond our control.  Just rest with the thought that Sera is no longer suffering, but is now at peace...

Dear Terri,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. As I write this I am in tears thinking of the grief you must be going through. Please forgive the late name suggestion, but I hope it is consoling, if not appropriate.
Saranya: wife of Surya and Goddess of the dawn and clouds (in Hindu mythology).
I hope you can lay in the field where she once lay, and look up at the clouds and see glimpses of her, frollicking in joie de vivre.
I believe we will be reunited with them - why else would we be blessed/cursed with such undying love for these noble animals? Why at such an early age are we stricken with this passion? It is my belief that some of us are chosen for this particular vocation due to our passion, and that we will be rewarded in the afterlife for our pain, work, fear, love, joy and downright amazement just watching them move. For some reason, God needed this filly home right away... she must be special (perhaps God needed a Sonset Seiger for his herd, not hard to imagine that after meeting that stallion and June's Aly xx - somebody needed a fantastic event horse in heaven).
Hang in there, and know we are all feeling your pain and loss. Your animal husbandry skills are so exemplary, please take refuge in the FACT you both did all you could in the face of mother nature. This life is tough. We do what we can do, and suffer unendingly for what we cannot. Continue on and make the babies we all love to see and root for. Your breeding program is special and a huge benefit to the breed. I hope you will repeat the cross..

As usual, Lara's words are hard to top. Beautiful writing. Terri, you know we're all rooting for you and this is the world of horses indeed - joy and grief, always together. Please don't hesitate to ask for any type of help with the storm aftermath.
And people here should also know that Terri and Jon lost another in that storm, their beautiful and barn-favorite pony. Hang in there!!
