I LOVE Trakehners!

The 2009 Winner of the CDI Grand Prix Dressage Freestyle in Wellington, Florida is the "Danish Warmblood" named Success by "Silvermoon" by "Kostolany/Enrico Caruso" ridden by Lars Petersen. The 2009 Champion stallion at the KWPN stallion grading is the stallion Bordeaux out of the star mare Venna by the Trakehner stallion "Gribaldi by Kostolany/Enrico Caruso". Go Trakehners!!

I wonder if anyone outside of the Trakehner world is aware of the TK breeding in these horses. Does the ATA or either of these organizations advertise just how well bred these stallions are?

Maren does a great job on her web site "exposing" the Trakehner blood in the other breeds but for the most part in the US it seems to be a big secret. There is a new organization in Europe that is trying to garner support from the warmblood registries using the required "passports" with the breed origin identified in the pedigreed. It would be a problem here in the US as we don't use that same system of passports for all horses. For instance, if Gribaldi is not in this new organization, his passport would list him as a Dutch Warmblood and not the Trakehner that he is. There again though, how many organizations can you pay before it becomes one too many. I personally think it would be great if this new one takes hold and even replaces some of the other ones because I think it would show the whole world just how much Trakehner blood is in all these other breeds.
