Hello,
This is my first post. Was just wondering if any of you know any info on this stallion (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/wermiszel ). What his background breeding was talented at, or any other information.
I have a mare by him that I adore, and this year I bred her. The stallion that I used was easy to look up, but I don’t know allot about her side ,her dam was a thoroughbred, and Wermiszel is her sire. Thanks for your time.

If I am correct in my memory this stallion was owned by Olds College in Alberta.
He was used by the college for many years to educate the  students about breeding in their equine programs. He was mainly used to breed Thoroughbreds.

Yes, that is the horse. I met him in person a year before he passed away. I was just wondering about his breeding. Most of the horses in his pedigree I am not able to find on the internet and was just wondering if anyone else knew anything about these lines. Like the history. He was imported from Poland, so it is hard to find info. Was hoping that with all the Trak people, someone would be able to tell me something.....

Wermiszel, like to many of the older Polish stallions, carried a very good dose of main stud Trakehnen bloodlines and was a member of the highly regarded Perfectionist xx - stallion line. The line goes via Perfectionist xx - Jagdheld - Ararad and was one of the very top performance lines of its time.
Perfectionist xx was a son of the British Tripe Crown Champion Persimmon xx and a grand son of the legendary St. Simon xx. Perfectionist xx came to Trakehnen and only stood at stud for 3 years - he broke his hip and had to be put down. However, in these 3 years he sired an astronomical number of outstanding daughters and sons and truly was a major sire, not only of his time. His offspring under saddle were known as especially good hunters (fox hunting) and jumpers.
His three most important sons were Jagdheld, Irrlehrer (the line of Carino *E* and his sons) and of course, the centiry sire Tempelhüter.

Ararad was a substantial black stallion and mostly used in Trakehnen black herd. The tremendously important mare families of Herbstzeitlose and Handschelle both go back to Ararad daughters - inbred to more "black herd blood" from Trakehnen. Habicht, Solero, Grand Prix etc all carry similar pedigree components in their back.
Ararad's sons Hutten (sire of Humboldt - Impuls - and the Heros lines) and Indra were very successful. Indra was a top mare producer, the families of Bea, J Kordel, Berberitze, Korvette, Korsika and others are all founded on Indra daughters.

Wermiszel carried line breeding to Perfectionist xx and the very good (and substantial) Parsival, whose most important son in Trakehnen was of course Hirtensang. He was an important sire in the history of Trakehnen's chestnut herd. His daughter Peraea alone put the family on an exposed position through her son Pregel and her grand son Donauwind *E*. To name all family members of this Hirtansang line would need more space (and time), so just take it for granted - this is one heck of an important line, even today!

Wermiszel's 2nd dam sire Sandor was bred at Trakehnen, but used for breeding later at the State Stud Liski in Poland and sire the very good Acjonariusz. He was a substantial black stallion, again, like most of those original Trakehners that ended up in the East (Pilger is no exception). The line that Acjonariusz founded via Tranzyt - Traum - Patron stretched all the way to Germany and later the US, as this was a super sport horse line with very versatile athletes. Patron came to Germany as a young stallion, and was "spotted" ba Gottfried Hoogen on a tour to Poland. He stood at stud at Vogelsangshof, sired over 100 approved main stud book mares and many sons, among them the exceptional and very versatile sires EH Mackensen and EH Sokrates. Acjonariusz' daughter Malmazja produced the top jumper sire Mazagran, who also came to Germany later in his life and left a small, but tremendously successful band of brood mares and sport horses. I tend to pay a special load of attention if I find any of the above names closer than 4th generation in a pedigree today.

Just from a look at this pedigree, Wermiszel was probably a far above average jumper and I would have bred him accordingly. I notied he also carried Eiserner Fleiss - that is the sire of Ernest, the sire of the great Ozean, without doubt one of the most overlooked and yet successful jumper producers the breed ever had. His grand son, the Hanoverian Grannus, is a multi mio Euro jumper sire, and the Ozean - Cesar line produced the international show jumper Suchard and his equally successful son Balisto Z - to this day the only Trakehner stallions ever approved at the Belgium Zangersheide Stud.

Thank-you sooo much Maren for taking the time to reply!! Found that really interesting. Hard to find info like that. Traced back the names but most of the really interesting information was written in German and the on-line translator stinks. Someday I am going to take an equine tour of Germany just to see all the amazing animals and history (maybe a bit of beer and schnitzel too).
My mare (Maedchen) was hurt when she was young and I never got to see her potential - except her personality. I really think she is very special and the only problem is that I suspect she is smarter than I am, but she humors me a lot.
Thank-you and take care.

Wermiszel was registered with the NATA. I remember him winning annual awards with the NATA, for what I dont remember. He was allways called Mitch. Once I had a blog brawl with some fella that said he was not a Trakehner, I allways said look at his bloodlines!

That's right, he was called Mitch! I think it is a common problem for Trak recognition, that the crosses and stallions are registered with other warmblood groups. I know Mitch had one jumping offspring http://www.eqvalanduo.com/gb/jumping_060906.pdf
, the horse was Olds Overtime, but if you look at the breed column it is unknown.
