Tell me about your stallion prospects and especially mares coming for inspection/approval in '09! (I love the boys, but the mares have been getting better and better @ these meetings . . . an exciting and desperately-needed development!)
Depending on her stage of development (right now everything is long & tall - including ears! - she needs to fill out), I plan to bring Sayyida (barn name: Xena) by Tzigane *Pb* ex. Pr.St. Schoene Symphonie (Polarpunkt - E.H. Tenor) to Nashville.
Who else is coming and who are you bringing?

For inspection I have a Tanzeln/PSB Thoroughbred cross and a Radscha/Erzsand. The Tanz filly looks like a horse now at 2 1/2; The Radscha is still all ears and butt high--even though she is about 16.2. still has that baby tail and immature. Won't bring them if they are not in a good spot as I want to maximize their scores. I think both are going to do very well if they are at a good point in their growth. May bring for the mare show just to get them out if they are not ready to inspect. Will bring to Murfreesboro. Hopefully we have tons of mares and stallions at the meeting.

Looks like we will bring a load of horses from Alberta, Canada! I think we will bring Feingeist and Paascha MV for the stallion showcase, and probably two mares for inspection, one by E.H. Herzzauber out of Pandora, and one by Feingeist out of Zeta by Carino.

Happy to say that I plan to bring a couple of horses to RIDE at convention (if all goes "as planned") this year.
Hoping to bring SPS Hofdame (Hohenstein/Herzzauber)to do a dressage exhibition.
And, here it goes - making it pubic, so now I must stick to it - I will bring Fairwind (Windfall X Fairwell) to do the hunter stakes - as a gelding. The appointment is set to have him gelded on January 5th. I decided to geld him while I was in LA and I am sticking to my guns. He will be a wonderful gelding!
I am already looking forward to convention - it is one of my favorites!

OH MY GOSH Suzette!!! You are going to bring Priceless?!!!! (as I'm bouncing up and down in my seat) You mean I finally get to meet her? LOL! hmmmm.... I hadn't thought about it, but if I still have her and if she is still as gorgeous as I think she is going to be I may have to bring Val's 2008 filly for the show - we can have a family reunion! (btw - I guess I need to take some photos of VAl sometime soon and share them now that she is all sleek and fat again post surgery!)
Seriously, assuming that all is going well next year and nothing weird happens etc, here is my "thinking about bringing list" (although I have nothing next year to be inspected - it will all be for demo/stallion parade/mare show)
Emerald Fire (she'll be two for the mare show) MAYBE her full brother Emerald Tsar (mare show/vol marks?) Tate (stallion parade and maybe even ridden? we'll see where we're at) Maybe even Preston if he isn't sold for the hunter/jumper stakes/a demo or something... hmmm.... have to think about it all.
Of the above, only Tate is the most "sure" thing though.
And MY WORD Eileen - are you two NUTS? LOL More power to you - and I guess we all owe you a drink or two after that drive!

Well, looks like the show will be very exciting with all of the horses that are coming! We are really looking forward to the opportunity to participate! We have been to many annual meetings before with our horses(St. Louis, Seattle, for example). It would have been great to go to California, but there were a couple of mountain ranges to contend with, that we were not prepared to do this year! I loved the meeting in Texas, and would love to go there, but Kari is right, we do not go that far south. We travel east through Canada, and then go south through North Dakota to Omaha, Nebraska. Wew would love to meet trakehner people along the way! It is always great to travel with "the boys" as you really find out what they are made of when they have to be with their humans for a long trip.

Just a general comment on mare classes, we worked very hard to have one in LA, and due to so many people pulling out, it never came to be, although I wanted it badly. It is very difficult to secure the amount of horses you need to run a show like that - lesson learned once again this year.
You need to run family classes as 1) dam with two direct daughters, 2) dam with daughter and grand daughter or 3) three daughters representing a dam that can't attend.

Let me re-phrase:
daughters 2yrs old and older is the general rule at German family shows. You can't bring fillies under 2yrs old age. But if the horse count is low as within the ATA, I would stretch that and include weanling and yearling fillies.

See here I was thinking it was like at the DHSB shows and it was just a "Produce of dam" class - in those classes it is just judged on the offspring of the dam (overall quality of all the offspring) and it doesn't matter if it is fillies/colts or even ages (I think they have to be 3 and under, but may be way wrong on that - I'll look it up).
Likewise there are also classes for Get of Sire - same premise as the produce of dam, but by one sire (obviously).

Anissa describes what we're used to in the states (Produce of Dam/Get of Sire) that's why I asked how mare family classes had previously been run @ ATA Conventions.

I like get of dam / get of sire as you describe it better for the American market. Talk tot he organizers and get it done! Should be interesting.
