I love Trakehners!

Just looking for any suggestions…so if you have ever tried anything that works, please share.
I have a 13 year old gelding that I bought a couple of years ago. He was raised by kids and sold to a second home-which is where I got him. I call him Monkey because he is very personable but into everything. He is very dominate and while not mean at all to people, when he first came he could be a bit on the pushy side. He is possible the biggest pig around food that I have ever met. He lives with 2 other mares and two small donkeys. He is so mean around the food and is very bossy. They all get there own food dish.
Separating them is not easy because of the pasture set up. Maybe in the near future, I will add pastures. Is there any thing I can do to get him to be less aggressive towards the others?
P.S He is a draught cross.

Horses have different personalities, just as people do. Some are bossy and pushy, some are dominant. Each herd has its own hierarchy. You can't change it, all you can do is separate them, if possible.

Do you at least have the option to tie him (or all of them) to the fence, each with his/her own bucket to eat? At least that way he can't terrorize the others and steal their food. Also, are they getting enough hay? How many times a day? With horses as with people  , hunger can aggravate crabbiness. More hay, or simply more meals of it might help some.

Unfortunately my horses are embarrassingly fat. Monkey is also known as Chunky Monkey (A picture of my mare is on one of my other posts). Not too worried about food consumption because they get too much, just bugs me that he is grumpy to my girls. I have never heard of anything working to fix a dominate horse (except a more dominate horse), but just thought with all the experience maybe someone has tried or heard of something. Also he hogs the barn and herds the donkeys for fun. Bad horse, but look at that face…
I thought there might be some psychology in just tying him -to give the girls an advantage.
They have 100 acres of grass plus alfa alfa cubes once a day, and a mixture of mineral supplement (Hoffman’s) and ground flax seed, free choice. When the snow gets deeper (Canada) or it is cold they get hay so they can stay close to the barn.
