Thanks to all! This is a LONG, expensive road and it means a lot having the TK community behind us.
As Patricia and David B. can tell you, there simply aren't many TK's in the world of jumpers . . . but we're determined that's going to change in the coming years!

I wish I'd known Taz was in St Louis as I would have gone to see him. I'm so proud of him! Excited for you,Kim. You and Helmut certainly deserve a lot of credit for giving the financial and training support to get Taz to where he is now and to where he's headed.

I still smile when I remember standing by the ring last summer watching my guy jump and there was a group of ladies next to me watching. One said, "they say it's a Trakehner??", the other replied, "but he can really jump well? Are you sure?"....I walked by and said to them, "it's absolutely true, he is a full blooded Trakehner and he is not the only one out here performing at Lamplight". That's funny. Had a similar experience. After winning the Modified Jumper Championship (Level 6) @ Lamplight, another trainer wanted to know where Helmut had gotten his new Holsteiner!
Helmut told him Taz was Trakehner. Undaunted, Trainer A said, "he may be BY a TK, but out of a Holsteiner dam, right?" Helmut corrected him again, and confirmed that Taz was, indeed full Trakehner. Trainer A just stared @ him and said, "I've NEVER seen a TK jump like that! They're doing something different w/their breeding programs."
Hee Hee Hee! We're converting 'em one spectator (or in this case trainer ) at a time, P!

FINALLY got the video from Lake St. Louis. This is Taz and Helmut in the Welcome Stakes (mandatory requirement to do the Grand Prix) - a Level 7 (4'6") class - November 13th.

Kim, I had tears in my eyes and my heart was so full of pride for Taz. Helmut and you are to be congratulated for supporting this wonderful stallion. AND he makes great babies too! What a horse.

He is AMAZING! Not only gorgeous but performance, too! A HUGE congratulations to you, Kim, and to Helmut - - - and an extra bag of carrots for Taz! This is an accomplishment reached by only a few - I hope we have more in the future. Its a long hard road that's not for the faint of heart, so kudos to you for sticking to it! Its a rare combination to find a horse, owner and trainer that have the heart and talent to make it to the top. I knew you would do it!

Thanks for all the nice comments. We're incredibly proud of him and honestly, I get a bit misty, too watching this as I still remember seeing him as a baby, chasing after his sister in Zenda's pasture. I'd gone there to buy a 3yo and would up w/a 3mo. old. There was just something about him. Still is.
On Maren's suggestion, I pulled a few stills from the video. Wow. Helmut may need to think about getting a seat belt!

Look forward to seeing you @ Lamplight, P.
I hope one day you get to see your boy step into the ring for his first Welcome Stakes & GP (I couldn't be there; had to wait for the video). Still, it literally took my breath away, and suspect the same will happen to you.
