From the Ata web site, we have 2 approved stallions"
"IMMINENCE, foaled 2004, by Beaujolais II, out of Insouciant (PSB) by Martini *Pg*E*, bred and owned by Jean Brinkman, Wellborn, FL, and
TATENDRDANG, foaled 2006, by Onassis, out of Tanzania by Avignon II, bred by Pam Norton, Hockley, TX, owned by Ann Cottongim, Panama City, FL"
I don't know anything about Imminence, but Tate makes Tanzania's second approved son (Tycoon, a full brother to Tate.)
I am so excited for Anissa and her Mom.

Very quick, very brief note tonight...
I'm VERY HAPPY and so is mom tonight. Everyone that has posted/emailed - thank you so much and I'll update more tomorrow after I get the boy home.
Inspection was large and fun. VERY tired though!!! High point mare was Barkley and Reserve was Snapee Dresseur and both were a 53.
Photos should be up by Sun, if we get some sooner I'll let you know -also have pro video that I'll be bringing to CA for those coming.

I'm so tickeled for you and your Mom, Anissa--you'd think Tate belonged to me.
What was the tie-breaker for the two mares?

The tie breaker is always the scores for movement. Which ever mare scored higer on movement, wins the tie or title.

OK, just got the boy home and settled. What an exciting past couple of days....
Where to start?
Tate was a GOOD boy. He handled himself well all day long and he REALLY showed well at liberty and over fences. The jump chute was the most amazing part. He just made it look effortless (and he was raised up to close to 5'). He was approved mainly because of his movement and jumping ability - his athleticism. He still has moments that he looks young but the inspectors said that they felt he would mature into himself and his movement etc is so incrediable that he needed to be approved. I'm so happy for this boy.
Funny story. I went over on Wed. I had to do stuff to get ready for the inspection, hlep mom and I had Tate and the mare, Devotion to present. Karri Henning took Dove over with me in her trailer. I took off from work on Tues to finish getting some stuff done. Turned Tate out and did my stuff. Brought him in around 4 to work him and so forth... He had pulled not one but BOTH front shoes clean off!! So we had to stop at my farriers before I left for Jax... sigh.
All of the horses were very nice at the inspection. I honestly thought that this was one inspection where all or most of the stallions would have been approved. I was VERY disappointed that Joe's Graditz colt was not approved. He is such a good boy and his movement and jump was amongst the best so it was sad to hear the "not approved" for him.
The mares that tied were broken by the movement score. Barkley had a 9 for her walk from Darren! Both mares are owned by the same girl, Katie Stoy so I KNOW she was happy LOL. Which is good since she had 3 flat tires getting to the inspection bless her heart.
Don't ask me any other scores (my mare had a 49 - all 7's not bad for a 18 yo broodmare that is preg!) as I was running my tail off all day long. I HURT today.
I do want to take a moment to personally thank Joe for all he has done for me with Tate and just in general - a girl could not ask for a better friend and mentor. It takes a team to get a horse to this point and without that team Tate would not be around much less doing what he did this weekend. He's mom's horse but she is the finances, the driver/hauler, the grounder for all of us. Right down to my farrier, Bill Benson, and of course my handler, Sterling Graburn. Dad stays home to care for the critters here which allows me to get Tate out and about... the list is endless. And of course all of you friends that support and encourage me through all of this craziness. I got home and went out and hugged Tanz right off - she and Onassis produced this colt and they are both deserviing of the "Elite" status that his being approved awards them now.

I would like to take a moment to congratulate Anissa and her Mom, Ann! They worked so very hard to make this such a first class inspection. Two plus months ago, when they brought Tate to me, he was a lanky looking youngster, but as sweet as they come. But, what a difference two months makes! I had a nice time at the inspection, and met a bunch of people that I had spoken with by phone, but never met in person. Tate certainly deserved to be approved, and I wish Team Tate all the successes in the world! BTW, Tate jumped amazingly, and had only been through the jump chute four times prior to the inspection, he just had to be pointed at the chute, and he did the rest. A single crack of the whip was not needed. Joe

I AM basking in the glow Patricia - it has been a wild ride. And to think that come Thurs I was still biting my nails about if I should or should not present him LOL. He just felt READY, and as soon as we did the hard surface and I was walking him back I could feel it that he was "ON" and he was going to give his all. Of course he wanted to CANTER instead of TROT during the at liberty - so while he showed good trot, his best trot was not seen.
While doing the "walk of death" I am circling and circling and circling the arena for what seemed to be an eternity whille Sam talked about the other inspectors, the process, the facility, just about everything including the weather LOL. Meanwhile, they had reversed the order and asked for the horses to be brought in youngest to oldest - I was biting my lip because I was thinking "they did that because they are going to approve Holster and not Tate"... so Sam finally gets down to business and says he is going to make the announcements... He starts with Tate (number 7) and just says "Number 7 is approved" no name, nothing. Then goes to the next horse. I knew the number, but it took me until he got to the 3rd horse before I reallised that Tate was APPROVED. Then I started breathing and started to get emotional. Joe was right in front of me with Holster (we had caught up) and we high fived etc and it was at THAT point that MOM realised that he was approved. She didn't know his number!!!! Ruthanne G stood up in the crowd and yelled for Sam to announce the names and THAT is when everyone started to clap etc. LOL. Delayed reaction. It was very surreal.
Patricia - you have no idea how nice Holster is - the photos don't do him justice. I was very very surprised he wasn't approved. And he was the last colt born.
Alicia - I have the BEST support team.
Thanks Joe for everything.

Joe, can you re-present Holster? I sometimes wonder if there isn't a number they have in mind so as not to approve too many stallions. I think last year there were only 1 or 2, so maybe this year they'll allow a couple more, but that's all? Anyway, everyone seems to be surprised that Holster wasn't approved, and I'm sure the inspectors told you the reasons, but can he be presented again, and if so, would you do it again?

Congrats Anissa, Tate did wonderful. He was effortless over the jumps, and took no coaxing, just point and release. He seems to really enjoy jumping. I, too, am shocked that Holster was not approved. Presenting stallions is not for the weak hearted! Thanks again Anissa and everyone else who worked so hard to put together such a smooth running inspection. For so many horses it went without a hitch, thanks for all the hard work!

Hey Wendi!!! I am soooo sorry we didn't have time to talk more!!! It seemed like everytime I turned around someone was asking for something, someone needed something, an extra whip was needed in the arena, etc etc etc.... I must have walked 60 miles yesterday.
I did check out your mare though - she is LOVELY.
Yesterday could not have happened without sooo much help - here are the biggies: my mom, my aunt (and cousin Whitney - whose birthday it was yesterday), Tanya Nelson (my gosh that woman was in that arena for every single horse all day long as a whip handler - she must HURT today), Sara Warner who was the scribe extroidinaire, Sterling Graburn for handleing and also pitching in, Karri Henning for putting up with my dark side and helping everywhere!!!, who else am I forgetting?? Best part is - several of the volunteers were not ATA members - but several are thinking of becoming so. With as many horses as we had (we had two added the day of so we had a total of 25 horses I think) we were still done by 4 and were well ahead of time!!
The equestrian facility staff was AWESOME - they really went above and beyond for us. It was constantly "What can we do to help? How can we make it better? What do you need?" and the facility itself... oh my.
photos will come... i promise!!!

Joe, can you re-present Holster? I sometimes wonder if there isn't a number they have in mind so as not to approve too many stallions. I think last year there were only 1 or 2, so maybe this year they'll allow a couple more, but that's all? I'm right w/you, Joy. This colt is amazing - saw the video of him jumping (the 2nd time he'd ever been thru a chute) and frankly, in a word, this boy can SKY. (Pause the video when he's presenting, leaving the ground, at apex and again landing.) Beautiful bascule, great eye (ability to find his spot) and effortless grace over a 6' fence. Moreover, he's economical - not wasting time in the air (vital in winning a jump-off). But maybe the most impressive thing was the controlled way he cantered away from the fence - telling me this was an effortless jump for him.
This is rare, natural jumping talent. Moreover, his size is ideal for today's upper-level jumper. Course designers are all about technical questions, bending lines and adjustability - bigger horses (17+h) have a hard time fitting themselves into combinations of the type found in today's upper-level courses, and I see fewer of them in these classes.
In addition, his frame, saddle position and type in photos on Joe's site are very, very good. I wonder if so much Graditz *E* blood approved in Maine hurt his chances. It's extremely disappointing he was not approved and I DO hope Joe will consider presenting him again.
