Got an e-mail from Leslie Merchant yesterday. Her mare Mariah's Wings (Gretel) kept them up for several nights, but finally rewarded their sleeplessness with a lovely filly.
She is apparently sassy (a redhead's right), but very sweet and friendly. Gretel obviously is smitten w/her . . . there's just something about mares and daughters, isn't there?
So, here's Mercury Rising (the Merchant's favorite red wine), known around the farm as Fancy Francie!

Owner sent new photos of "Fancy Francie" today.
In my paperwork, found the inspector's (Brad Kerbs) remarks on Francie's dam, Mariah's Wings (Gretel). A full TB, Gretel was approved for the ATA's PSB w/a score of 53: "Very good temperament in an attractive and lovely TB mare. Suggest breeding this mare every year."
Based on Francie and her full brother from '07, MoJo, I'd say he was right.

That last picture made me exclaim (can't think of a better word) when I saw it. Talk about beauty and presence all wrapped up in a (for now) small package! She knows she is at the head of her class. 
She's going to knock their socks off whatever discipline she goes into--hope it's jumping.
